✨ Clarification about translations in Unturned

Hi again, everyone. Thank you so much for your feedback and all the encouraging comments. I wanted to share this clarification because I know the topic of translations can be confusing.

📌 Even though Unturned’s source code was released, the Steam version —the one we all play— still uses Unity’s file system for translations (items and maps). This system is completely separate from the Workshop, and it’s also quite outdated when it comes to uploading or updating mods.

Because of that, when trying to translate dialogues or items, two major limitations appear:

🔹 1. Texts cannot be translated through the Workshop The only way would be to directly modify the game’s files, which the Workshop does not allow. The alternative would be to take the game, edit the text files, and upload them externally so each player installs them manually… which is not practical or comfortable for anyone.

🔹 2. Items or dialogues from Workshop maps cannot be translated Only the default Unturned text files can be modified. Maps like Russia, Germany, or France cannot be edited from outside. In those cases, the only option is to ask the map developers to add their own translations, just like they already did for Chinese and other languages.

💬 So, beyond translating menus and some HUD descriptions, there isn’t much more that can be done within the current limitations of the system.
