ComboSpear

An AI-built, hand-tuned animation mod that turns the spear from a one-trick poke into a real weapon.

Valheim gives the spear one animation and one job: stab, throw it away, pick it up. ComboSpear gives it a fighting style of its own. Every clip in this mod is authored for the spear; none of them is a vanilla animation with its timings nudged.

What you get

• A three-hit combo - thrust, follow-up, finisher. Each hit flows into the next instead of snapping back to the

stance, so the chain reads as one movement.

• A defence combo out of the block - attack while holding block for three hits with the shield kept up in front

and your eyes over its rim. Between hits you are straight back behind the shield.

• An overhand throw with a real toss - the spear goes up, comes down into an open hand that closes around the

shaft, and leaves it in the throw.

• A jump-back throw - throw right after the finisher lands to leap back and send the spear flying.
• True damage numbers - Valheim shows the floating number before it applies the world's damage setting and the

nearby-player scaling, so the number overstates the hit. ComboSpear shows the damage the hit really deals. Only the number changes.

Balanced for fair play

The combo makes the spear a joy to fight with, not stronger than it should be. The damage is tuned for fair play, which makes ComboSpear a great fit for challenge runs.

ComboSpear works great with ValheimWeaponClasses Continued by AndyTheDemon. Together they make the spear your true companion: ComboSpear gives it the moves, and the classes let your weapon grow with you as you fight.

Config

One setting, in BepInEx/config/andythedemon.combospear.cfg (created on first launch):

Set it to false to play with vanilla spears. It takes effect the next time the game starts.

Installation

Use a mod manager (r2modman, Thunderstore Mod Manager), or install by hand:

1. Install BepInExPack Valheim.
2. Copy this package's BepInEx folder into your Valheim folder. It holds one file,

BepInEx/plugins/ComboSpear.dll: the whole mod, animations included.

When it runs, the log shows Combo Spear 1.0.1 loaded.

Notes

• Every player should install ComboSpear. Your attacks are sent to other players under the mod's own names: players

with the mod see your combo, players without it see no attack animation - the hits you deal still land.

• If a game update moves the spear's attack states, the mod logs a warning instead of breaking your game.

Spears deserve better than a poke.
