Pedal Bike

Pedal Bike 0.1.1

A single-rider timber bicycle for Valheim, powered by your character's stamina. A triangular wooden frame, spoked wheels, working front steering, animated pedals, a rear chest and a riding HUD keep it practical for village travel.

Build it

Use the normal Hammer, open the Crafting build category and select Pedal Bike while within Workbench range.

The rear chest has 8 inventory slots (4 x 2). One rider only. Dismount before opening the cargo chest. The bicycle cannot be dismantled while occupied; empty the chest before dismantling it.

Controls

Only WASD and Shift control riding. There are no aircraft, engine, hover or electricity controls. Shift alone does not move the bicycle.

Defaults: 18 km/h normal pedaling and 30 km/h sprint targets, 3 / 7 stamina per second respectively. Backpedaling is limited to 3 km/h. World stamina modifiers still apply. Sharp turns reduce the speed target so the bicycle can lean into the corner, up to 45 degrees. These are powered speed targets; slopes and momentum can change actual speed.

When stamina runs out, powered pedaling stops. Coast to recover; pedaling becomes available again after recovering a small stamina reserve. The HUD displays speed, stamina and pedaling status.

Install with Thunderstore Mod Manager

If this release is published, find Pedal Bike / Pedal_Bike in Get mods, select Download, then launch Modded. Dependencies are listed in the package manifest.

For the local ZIP:

1. Close Valheim and choose your Valheim profile in Thunderstore Mod Manager.
2. Install BepInExPack_Valheim by denikson and Jotunn by ValheimModding if missing.
3. Open Settings > Profile > Import local mod, and select PedalBike-0.1.1.zip as a ZIP. Do not extract it for this route.
4. If asked for details, use Pedal_Bike, author Arioh, version 0.1.1.
5. Check that it is enabled in My mods, then launch Modded.

Import profile / From file is a different menu for profile exports. Use Import local mod for this mod ZIP. Keep only one active copy of PedalBike.dll in the profile.

Manual installation and dedicated servers

Install the listed BepInEx and Jotunn dependencies first. Extract the package's BepInEx folder into the chosen game/profile/server root so that the plugin ends up at:

BepInEx/plugins/PedalBike/PedalBike.dll

For multiplayer, install the same Pedal Bike version on every player's profile and on the host/dedicated server. Start Server hosts should launch their game using Modded. A friend can use the same local ZIP; public hosting is not required for playing together. The mod declares matching versions mandatory through Jotunn.

Physics control moves to the authorized rider. Other peers receive the bicycle movement, steering and pedal animation; cargo uses the game's native inventory synchronization and persistence. Only one rider is allowed. Riding and cargo access are mutually exclusive, including requests arriving during a mount. Native ward access is respected. Server administrators control synchronized tuning values.

The front wheel steering limit is 45 degrees. The bicycle has automatic balance assistance, suspension and a stationary parking lock when empty. Its starting health is 600. It uses normal gravity and wheel contact; it is intended for ground travel.

Updating or publishing

To publish this first release, upload this ZIP to the Valheim community on Thunderstore and choose your team. This local package has not been published automatically. The ZIP can be used for both publishing and Import local mod.

For later updates, keep the same team and manifest name Pedal_Bike, increase version_number, update CHANGELOG.md, and rebuild the DLL with the matching plugin version. Upload the new package; do not upload the same name/team/version twice. Updating only CHANGELOG.md does not create a new version.

Validation and release limits

Built against the installed Valheim 1.0.20, Unity 6000.0.75, BepInEx 5.4.23.5 and Jotunn 2.30.2 references. The release build and native API resolution checks pass. Offline tests cover steering, corner and lean limits, speed targets, stamina calculations, rider authorization and invalid/stale inputs.

This release has not yet been driven in a live Valheim session or tested with two connected players. Native wheel physics, slopes, collision behavior, rider hand/foot alignment, cargo saves across reloads and multiplayer ownership transfers still need in-game verification. The accompanying model image is a software render of the actual model specification, not a gameplay screenshot. No Valheim or dependency DLLs, extracted meshes or textures are included in this package.
