Snuffable Firepit

Put out your fire pit when you don't need it, and keep the wood that's already inside.

In vanilla Valheim, a fire pit burns through its fuel whether or not anyone is nearby. With this mod you can snuff it out, and the fuel stays in the pit until you relight it.

Features

• Extinguish a fire pit with Shift + E by default. The key binding is fully configurable.
• Fuel is preserved while the fire is out, including while the area is unloaded or you're away from your base.
• Relight for free with Shift + E again. No flint, no extra wood.
• You can still add wood with a normal E while the fire is out. It stays snuffed until you relight it.
• Hover hint shows the Extinguish / Relight prompt on the fire pit.
• Ward-friendly: you can only snuff or relight fire pits you have access to.
• Multiplayer-friendly: the snuffed state is stored on the object and synced to everyone.

Usage

1. Look at a fire pit (prefab fire_pit).
2. Press the toggle shortcut (default Shift + E) to extinguish it.
3. Press it again to relight it.

The hover text on the fire pit always shows the current shortcut.

A fire pit with no fuel can't burn, so relighting an empty pit won't produce a flame until you add wood.

Configuration

The config file is generated on first launch at BepInEx/config/goibniu75.valheim.snuffablefirepit.cfg.

Use of a Configuration Manager is recommended. If you don't have one, you can edit the file manually.

Installation

Mod manager (recommended)

Install through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman. BepInEx is installed automatically as a dependency.

Manual

1. Install BepInEx for Valheim.
2. Copy SnuffableFirepit.dll into Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/.
3. Launch the game.

Multiplayer

Every player should install the mod. The burning check runs on each client, so players without it won't see the correct fire state or get the interaction prompt. Installing it on the server is optional.

Compatibility

• Works with vanilla fire pits and should be compatible with mods that don't replace Fireplace logic.
• May conflict with mods that also patch Fireplace.Interact or Fireplace.IsBurning, or that bind Shift + E. If so, change ToggleShortcut.
• Saved worlds are safe to use with or without the mod. The only data it adds is a small flag on each fire pit you snuff, which vanilla ignores.
• Works with StoreAndCraft by Morda and CraftyContainers by Azumatt. May work with other craft of chest mods, but I have only used those two.
