About LongBo
From ThunderstoreBlunt fighting staffs for every tier, wooden Bō to Deep North, with pierce and each tier's element. Atgeir moves, Polearms skill; Storm, Infernal and Rime add an elemental ground slam. Shogun Eras optional. Server and every player.
Long Bō
Long Bō adds a line of blunt fighting staffs, one for every tier from the wooden Bō to the Deep North. Each staff hits with blunt damage, adds pierce on top, and from Iron onward carries its tier's element. Damage, stamina, and durability follow the atgeir.
The staffs fight like the vanilla atgeir: the same thrust, the same spinning sweep on the secondary attack, the same sounds and hit effects, and they train the Polearms skill. The Storm, Infernal, and Rime Bō swap the spin for an elemental ground slam (see below).
Shogun Eras by AzathothR is optional. When it is installed, the staffs are crafted at its Clan Forge and Dragon Forge, and the credit for those forges and for the Bō that inspired this line belongs there.
The field manual, with the stats and spawn commands, is on the Long Bō page on batboys.dev.
The staffs
The number after the + is what each quality level adds.
Stamina is the cost of the thrust. The spin costs twice as much. The slam's cost is listed in its own section.
| Staff | Crafted at | Blunt | Also on the hit | Stamina | Durability | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Traveler's Bō | Clan Forge level 1 | 18 +3 | Pierce 13 +2 | 9 | 170 | | Bronze Bō | Clan Forge level 2 | 28 +3 | Pierce 12 +1.5 | 12 | 220 | | Iron Bō | Clan Forge level 3 | 40 +4 | Pierce 15 +1.5, poison 10 +2 | 12 | 250 | | Silver Bō | Clan Forge level 4 | 45 +3 | Pierce 15 +2, spirit 15 +2 | 12 | 300 | | Blackmetal Bō | Clan Forge level 4 | 65 +5 | Pierce 25 +2 | 13 | 350 | | Storm Bō | Dragon Forge level 1 | 75 +4 | Pierce 30 +2, lightning 20 +2 | 14 | 400 | | Infernal Bō | Dragon Forge level 1 | 90 +5 | Pierce 35 +2, fire 20 +2 | 15 | 500 | | Rime Bō | Dragon Forge level 1 | 120 +5 | Pierce 45 +2, frost 20 +2 | 15 | 500 |
- The Traveler's Bō is always available. With Shogun Eras, its own Bō stays in the game too, as a separate item.
- The elements apply the same effects as other weapons: Iron poisons, Storm shocks, Infernal burns, and Rime freezes. Silver deals spirit damage, which has no lingering effect in the game.
- Knockback grows with the tier, from 30 up to 60 on the Rime Bō. The Storm Bō hits hardest, at 75, and can knock a foe off their feet.
- An equipped staff shows on your character on the character select screen.
The ground slam (Storm, Infernal, and Rime)
On the Storm, Infernal, and Rime Bō, the secondary attack is a sledge-style ground slam instead of the spin. The staff comes down on the ground in front of you, hits every foe in a circle, throws them back, and staggers them twice as hard as a normal hit. The slam deals 0.9× the staff's normal hit, and a burst of the staff's element goes off on impact. The Blackmetal Bō and every lower tier keep the atgeir spin.
| Staff | Element burst | Radius | Knockback | Stamina | Extra | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Storm Bō | Lightning | 3 m | about 330 | 28 | The hardest push of the three. | | Infernal Bō | Fire | 3.25 m | about 220 | 30 | Burning deals 1.5× the usual burn damage. | | Rime Bō | Frost | 3.5 m | about 225 | 30 | A 3-second frost slow, then 2 more pulses. |
- Infernal Bō: every hit, thrust or slam, sets foes on fire. The burn deals 1.5× the normal amount. At quality 1 that is about 30 fire over 5 seconds instead of 20. The hit itself is unchanged. Foes immune to fire do not burn.
- Rime Bō: every hit, thrust or slam, slows foes with frost for 3 seconds, strongest at first. After the slam, the ice burst pulses 2 more times, about 1.5 seconds apart. Each pulse deals 7.5 frost damage to foes inside the ring and refreshes the slow. Foes that resist frost take less damage and are not slowed, as in the base game.
- The bursts use the game's own effects, so they look like vanilla Valheim.
How they look
Each staff has its own original model, based on the concept art in the field manual. They use small, pixel-sharp textures to match the look of vanilla Valheim.
- Traveler's Bō: a plain light-wood staff with a dark leather grip at the centre.
- Bronze Bō: brown wood with bronze end caps and a studded leather grip.
- Iron Bō: dark wood with iron end caps and iron bands at the grip.
- Silver Bō: wood with engraved silver ends and a fur-wrapped lower grip.
- Blackmetal Bō: a black shaft with dark purple-tinted caps and a wrapped grip.
- Storm Bō: a dark shaft with four twisted, ridged green collars.
- Infernal Bō: a charred black shaft with cracked, ember-orange ends.
- Rime Bō: pale wood with frosted, ice-blue end sleeves.
The new models replace the atgeir completely, blade included, in your hand, on your back, and lying on the ground. They are held at the same spot as the atgeir. Each staff also has its own inventory icon, drawn from its model.
To go back to a plain look, set General / Use new models to false and restart the game. The staffs then show a simple round shaft with metal caps and bands in each tier's colours.
Where to craft them
- Clan Forge (
Forgeshogun_stone) makes the Traveler's Bō through the Blackmetal Bō. - Dragon Forge (
Forgeshogun_black) makes the Storm, Infernal, and Rime Bō.
Shogun Eras is not required. Without it, the staffs move to vanilla stations at level 1:
- Traveler's Bō: the Workbench.
- Bronze through Blackmetal: the Forge.
- Storm, Infernal, and Rime: the Black Forge, or the Forge if there is no Black Forge.
You still need the tier's materials, so the staffs stay in step with your progress.
Install
Install it with your mod manager on the dedicated server and on every player. Use the same 2.0.x version on the server and on every player. Do not mix it with older versions.
BepInEx for Valheim is required. A mod manager installs that for you. To install by hand, put LongBo.dll in BepInEx/plugins/BatBoys-LongBo/ on the server and on each player.
