About FPV Deathsquito

From Thunderstore

Replaces Deathsquitos with modern FPV kamikaze drones: procedural model and motor sound, parry to stun, silent one-star ambush drones, armor-aware blast damage, damage effects and multiplayer config sync.

FPV Deathsquito

Replaces Deathsquitos with modern FPV kamikaze drones. The model, motor sound and effects are generated in code — no asset bundles required.

Русское описание — ниже.

Features

  • Drone model — a 7" true-X quad with carbon arms, spinning props with motion blur, 6S battery,

FPV camera, antennas and an olive warhead taped underneath. The body tilts with speed and turns, LEDs blink, and the corpse is a drone too.

  • Sound — synthesized motor drone whose pitch rises with speed, explosion and crash sounds.

Routed through the game's SFX mixer (the game's volume sliders apply). Original Deathsquito sounds are muted.

  • Kamikaze attack — when it reaches you, the drone freezes and beeps for a moment (the wind-up), then

detonates. Blast damage is 35–45 after armor at the core and falls off towards the edge of the radius.

  • Parry to stun — raise your block right as the drone beeps and the explosion is cancelled: the drone

drops to the ground with an electric zap, lies there squealing for 4 seconds, then takes off again.

  • Ambush drones (★) — about 20% of drones spawn with one star. They sit silently on the ground and

launch straight up when they spot you. Heavier motor sound, sand-colored paint, 15% faster.

  • Damage states — below 50% health one prop stops, below 35% the drone smokes, below 20% it spins out

of control. Shot-down drones tumble and smoke.

  • Concussion — ringing ears and muffled sound for a few seconds if a drone explodes next to you.
  • Multiplayer — gameplay settings are synced from the server/host; effects are visible to everyone.

Installation

Mod manager (recommended): install with r2modman, Gale or Thunderstore Mod Manager. BepInExPack\_Valheim is installed automatically as a dependency.

Manual: install BepInExPack\_Valheim, then put FpvDeathsquito.dll into Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/.

Multiplayer

Install the mod on every client and on the dedicated server. Blast damage is applied by the client of the player who is hit, so a player without the mod takes no blast damage. Gameplay settings (damage, radii, parry, ambush drones) come from the server; volume and visual settings stay local.

Configuration

BepInEx/config/DeffoltUA.valheim.fpvdeathsquito.cfg is created on first launch. S = synced from the server.

|Setting|Default|S|Description| |-|-|-|-| |Visual.DroneScale|1.8||Model scale (1.0 = real 7" size)| |Visual.DistinctStarColor|true||Separate paint for ambush drones| |Visual.TakeoffDust|true||Dust when an ambush drone launches| |Audio.Volume|0.8||Volume of drone sounds| |Audio.HearingRadius|40||Distance at which the motor sound fades out (m)| |Audio.DistinctStarSound|true||Separate motor sound for ambush drones| |Hearing.DeafenOnExplosion / DeafenSeconds|true / 3||Ringing ears and muffled sound| |Damage.Enabled|true||Damage states (stopped prop, smoke, spin)| |Kamikaze.Enabled|true|S|Drones explode near players| |Kamikaze.TriggerRadius|1.4|S|Fuze trigger distance (m)| |Kamikaze.BlastRadius|5|S|Blast radius (m)| |Kamikaze.DamageMin / DamageMax|35 / 45|S|Blast damage after armor at the core| |Kamikaze.ArmorCompensation|true|S|Keep damage in range regardless of armor| |Kamikaze.ShotDownDetonates|false|S|Shot-down drones also explode| |Parry.Enabled|true|S|Parry stuns the drone| |Parry.StrikeTime|0.35|S|Wind-up before detonation (s); 0 = instant| |Parry.ParryWindow / ParryRange|0.3 / 4|S|How recently block must be raised (s) / max distance (m)| |Parry.StunSeconds|4|S|Stun duration (s)| |Ambusher.Enabled / StarChance|true / 20|S|Ambush drones and their spawn chance (%)| |Ambusher.WakeRadius / HearRadius|20 / 6|S|Detection with line of sight / without it (m)| |Ambusher.SpeedMultiplier|1.15|S|Ambush drone speed| |Detection.RegularDroneRangeBonus|5|S|Extra view/hearing range for regular drones (m)| |General.SyncWithServer|true||Use the server's gameplay settings|

Custom sounds

Place 16-bit PCM WAV files next to the DLL to replace the synthesized ones: fpv\\\_loop.wav, fpv\\\_loop\\\_star.wav, fpv\\\_launch\\\_star.wav, fpv\\\_boom.wav, fpv\\\_crash.wav, fpv\\\_ringing.wav, fpv\\\_warning.wav, fpv\\\_squeal.wav, fpv\\\_zap.wav. Loops must be seamless.

Compatibility and notes

  • Built for Valheim 1.0 with BepInExPack\_Valheim.
  • Mods that also replace the Deathsquito model may conflict visually.
  • Stars on Deathsquitos are added by this mod (vanilla Deathsquitos never get stars). One-star drones drop

the usual one-star loot. Drones that explode drop nothing; drones you shoot down drop normal loot.

sTroubleshooting

Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for lines starting with \\\[FPV Deathsquito]. Each Harmony patch is applied separately; if one fails after a game update, the rest keep working and the log says which one failed.
