HarpoonHookshot

The chitin harpoon hooks what it hits. Movable things are pulled in. Trees, buildings, and a ship that already has a pilot become an anchor you swing to.

Throw the vanilla chitin harpoon. Hold <kbd>E</kbd> or <kbd>T</kbd> to reel the line in, <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>E</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>T</kbd> to pay it out, and block (right mouse) to let go. Hold <kbd>Left Shift</kbd> as the harpoon lands to swing yourself to the target, even when it could have been pulled.

A Valheim BepInEx 5 plugin, Harmony only — no Jotunn dependency.

Features

• Pull creatures, empty ships, carts, felled logs, fish, and dropped items.
• Swing to standing trees, buildings, rocks, and a ship someone is already sailing.
• Reel the line shorter or longer. Getting close does not snap it. Stretching it too far does.
• Feather fall while the line is out, and for a short time after it breaks, so a swing off a tree is not a fall to the ground.
• No damage, optional, for hooking a deer or a deathsquito without killing it.
• A whitelist and a blacklist of exact prefab names. The blacklist wins. A refused hook is still a normal hit.

Bosses, leviathans, and the ground itself stay off until you turn them on.

Installation

1. Install through your mod manager (recommended).
2. Manual: place HarpoonHookshot.dll into BepInEx\plugins\HarpoonHookshot\.

How to use

1. Equip the chitin harpoon and throw it.
2. A log, a cart, a fish, or a dropped item comes to you. A tree or a wall pulls you to it.
3. Hold <kbd>E</kbd> to reel in. Hold <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>E</kbd> to give the line more slack.
4. Block to let go.
5. Hold <kbd>Left Shift</kbd> while the harpoon is in the air to swing to whatever it hits.

Other players still use the vanilla harpoon rope. You can reel that line too. The drawn rope is on your screen. Everyone sees the thing you are towing move.
