Tuneups
Dozens of small upgrades that take the friction out of everyday Valheim, for building, gear, portals, creatures and food, plus fixes for popular mods. Every tweak has its own switch.
At a glance
- Building: pieces snap at the middle of each side, not only at the corners. Press
-to see your build at night and check the lighting. Clear daylight while you fly, every seasonal item craftable all year, and Hearth Below's cave digging switched off and on withH. - Gear: wear up to 3 trinkets at once, every one of them counting. BlacksmithingExpanded upgrades that boost every damage type and keep pace with your Blacksmithing level.
- Portals and map: TargetPortal favorites you drag into order and click by name, gold pins on the map, a list sorted by biome in columns, and a marker at the portal each friend is nearest.
- Creatures: up to 10 stars on health bars, so a 5-star boar looks like one, coloured by element on PackBeasts' elemental tames. The creature's name on PortablePals stones. LetMeTameYou creatures tameable within seconds of joining. Creature drops that float in water instead of sinking out of reach.
- Food and rest: take raw food back off a cooking station with
Shift+E. BetterUI's cooking timer on every station. Valharvest troughs that take any food. Rested time kept when you log out. - Fixes for other mods: less lag in big bases from BetterUI's health bars and older Adventure Backpacks versions, and Server Devcommands'
findmeasured from where you stand. - Admin console:
noclipthrough walls unnoticed by creatures, andseecreatures/seeitemsto spot creatures and items through walls.
Client-side, no dependencies: players with and without Tuneups play together. Each tweak for another mod switches on only when that mod is installed.
Building
Side snap points
Building pieces snap at the middle of each side too: a wall, floor or beam can go halfway along another, and a short piece can sit in the middle of a long one.
- Works for every piece that snaps at its corners, other mods' pieces too. Sides shorter than about a metre keep their corners only.
- The extra points exist only while you place a piece, so big bases don't get any heavier.
Night view while building
With the hammer (or another building tool) in hand, press - and your screen turns to a clear night, to see how your fires, torches and lamps light up what you build. Press it again, or put the tool away, and the real light comes back. It fades over about a second.
- Only your screen changes: the time of day, creatures and other players' light stay as they are.
-is the minus key on the keyboard or the number pad, which nothing else in the game uses; another key can be set. It does nothing while you type.
Daylight while flying
While you fly (the game's fly, as Server Devcommands and Infinity Hammer use it, or noclip), your screen shows the world in clear midday light, also at night and in caves. It fades in and out over about a second.
- Only what you see changes. Time of day, weather, sleeping, crops and creatures stay as they are, sneaking still uses the real light, and other players see their own light.
- With Build Camera installed, its free camera gets the same daylight.
Seasonal items all year
The hats, decorations and food of Yule, Midsummer, Halloween and the other holidays can be crafted and built all year, like any other item.
- The usual rules apply: you still need the crafting station or building tool, and to have found the materials.
- Only your own crafting and building lists change; nothing is saved to the world.
Hearth Below: cave digging on a key
Hearth Below makes every pickaxe hit carve caves, and its switch for that is the server's. With Tuneups, press H with a pickaxe in hand to switch cave digging off and on for your own pickaxe. The screen says which it is.
- Off, you dig like in the game: down into the ground, never sideways, with the game's stamina and wear. Mining ore and rock works as always.
- Caves stay. Caves already dug keep their weather and light. A hit on the floor or wall of a dug cave still changes it.
- Only your pickaxe. Other players dig as they have it set. Your choice is kept between sessions; the first time you take a pickaxe out with cave digging off, the corner of the screen reminds you.
Gear
Up to three trinkets
Wear up to three trinkets at once (a setting from 1 to 5; 1 is the game's single trinket).
- All of them count. When the adrenaline bar is full, every worn trinket's full-adrenaline effect goes off, and their other effects all apply.
- The game's own adrenaline bar, as long as the worn trinket with the most max adrenaline. Max adrenaline adds up makes it the sum of them all instead (longer, slower to fill).
- Putting on another when all are worn takes off the one you've worn longest. Two copies of the same trinket can't be worn together.
- Saved as usual. Worn trinkets stay worn after logging out and go to your grave on death. The one you put on last shows on your character.
- A slot for each with AzuExtendedPlayerInventory. Its Trinket slot holds the trinket you put on last; slots named Trinket 2, Trinket 3 and so on hold the others, newest first. Drag trinkets in and out as with other equipment; dropping one onto a worn trinket's slot takes that one off.
BlacksmithingExpanded upgrades
Six tweaks that make BlacksmithingExpanded's upgrade bonus go further. Each is its own setting.
