A lightweight companion add-on for Pet Protection for v1 by Fai.

This mod cannot be used by itself. Pet Protection for v1 is a required dependency.

What it does

Pet Protection Tracker adds simple map tracking for tamed pets protected by Pet Protection for v1.

• Protected pets are shown with a wolf-head icon on the map.
• The icon has no pet name or text label.
• Tracker wolf-head icons are displayed at 30% of the 1.0.4 visual size.
• While a protected pet is loaded by your client, its map position is refreshed automatically.
• If the pet leaves your loaded area, the icon remains at its last known position for the current session.
• Removing protection with !none, or the pet dying while loaded, removes its tracker pin.
• Tracker pins are runtime-only and are not permanently saved into the player's map.

Required mod — Pet Protection for v1

Pet Protection Tracker only reads the protection state created by Pet Protection for v1. The base mod provides the actual protection modes and controls:

• Shift + T — cycle protection mode on the hovered tamed creature.
• !stun — stun/recovery protection.
• !god — immortal protection.
• !none — remove protection.

Pet Protection Tracker does not replace or modify those systems.

Design / compatibility

This add-on is intentionally kept simple to reduce multiplayer and mod-conflict risk. It does not add custom RPC position syncing, a host-side pet registry, persistent tracker cache files, pet AI changes, follow/heel changes, damage or health changes, or ownership changes.

It only reads protected, loaded tamed creatures and manages its own runtime map pins.

Multiplayer

The base Pet Protection for v1 mod should be installed according to its multiplayer instructions.

Pet Protection Tracker is client-side for map display. Any player who wants to see tracker icons should install this add-on as well.

Because this tracker intentionally avoids extra network synchronization, a pet that has never been loaded by your client during the current session will not have a tracker pin yet. This is normally not an issue if you keep your pets at your base when logging out and load them again after joining.

Installation

Install with r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager. When installed from Thunderstore, Pet Protection for v1 is listed as a required dependency and should be installed automatically.

For local installation, make sure both mods are enabled:

1. Pet Protection for v1
2. Pet Protection Tracker

Do not install Pet Protection Tracker as a replacement for the base mod.
