About Huskarl
From ThunderstorePlace named NPCs in your world and give them a job: a trader, a wardrobe that reskins your gear, a bank that keeps your valuables safe from death, or a casino with slots, marble races and plinko.
Huskarl
Place named NPCs around your world and give them a job. They can run a shop, change how your gear looks, keep your valuables safe, or run a casino.
A húskarl is a retainer of a household: someone you keep who does a job for you.
> Install this on the server and on every client. An NPC is an ordinary creature with its AI > switched off. A player without the mod sees a live, hostile Draugr standing in your marketplace.
Placing an NPC
Press F6 as an admin.
- Name it. That is what players see when they look at it.
- Pick a body. Every creature in the game, including ones from other mods. Drag the preview to
turn it.
- Make a person. Choose the player character and you get the full character creation options:
build, hair, beard, hair colour and skin colour.
- Dress it. Chest, legs, helmet and cape, from any armour in the game. Any slot can be empty.
- Stand it up. Place mode points the NPC where you look. Scroll to turn, shift-scroll to raise
and lower, arrow keys to nudge, G to hold it still while you adjust.
Once placed it stays put. It does not wander or despawn, other creatures ignore it, it cannot be killed, and it is still there after a restart.
Jobs
Trader
Opens the game's own store with a ware list you choose. Players buy with gold as they do with Haldor, and can sell anything valuable back at its own worth.
Guise
Changes how your gear looks and nothing else. Free, as often as you like, and always reversible.
Pick any piece of gear you are carrying and choose a look. Stats, name and icon are untouched.
- You can only choose looks you have found - anything of that kind that has been in your pack.
- Armour can be set to Hidden instead. The piece still protects you, it just is not shown.
- A look has to be the same kind of thing. A one-handed sword can look like another one-handed
sword, but not like a mace or a bow.
- Anything you hold can carry an effect - flame, frost, glow and others taken from weapons in
the game. A plain iron sword can wear Frostfire or Flametal.
Everyone can see your guise, including players without the mod.
Banker
Keeps your gold, Ochre and runes. No fee, no limit, and your vault is your own.
What is banked is not dropped when you die. That is the reason to use one.
- Every banker opens the same vault. Deposit in the marketplace, withdraw at home.
- Your vault is per character and per world.
- A stack you have locked is left alone.
- Withdrawing more than you can carry drops the rest at your feet rather than losing it.
Pick how much a button moves at the top of the window - 1, 10, 100, 1000 or All - then deposit or withdraw a line at a time, or move everything at once.
Without Runemark a bank holds gold. With it, every rune on your server is bankable.
Gambler
Pick which of three games the NPC runs.
Slots
Three reels and a lever. Stake 20, 100 or 200 gold.
The symbols are the real items - gold, Ochre and the five runes - and the symbol you line up is what you win. Three of a kind pays properly, three Sowilo is the jackpot, two of a kind pays one of that rune, and everything else pays a small consolation. Every spin pays something.
Three Bonus symbols open a bonus round: three free spins that cost nothing and pay far more often than an ordinary pull.
A bigger wager is a better chance at the bonus - about one pull in twenty at 20 gold, one in ten at 100, one in seven at 200. Bigger wagers also pay a smaller share of the stake back, so the larger stakes are buying the bonus rather than better value per gold.
The paytable is printed on the cabinet.
Marbles
Ten marbles race a course of corners, swinging axes and spinning tumblers, built fresh each time. Back a colour and stake gold, Ochre or any rune.
First pays three times the stake, second pays twice, third hands your stake back. Winnings come back in whatever you staked, so three Ansuz on the winner is nine Ansuz.
Your wager lays charms on the course, and only your marble can pick them up.
| Wager | Charms | |---|---| | Up to 50 gold | 1 | | 51 to 150 gold | 2 | | 151 gold and up | 3 |
They sit on the racing line, so your marble runs through them. Each does something different:
- Slipstream - a hard shove. Half again as fast for a second and a half.
- Featherweight - nothing slows it. It keeps its speed through corners that throw the rest of
the field wide.
- Hammer - a shockwave. Every other marble near you is thrown aside and stunned where it
lands. It does nothing for your marble; it clears the way.
With three charms your marble wins about one race in five and a half, against one in ten with none. Runes are read at their gold value, so the same size of bet buys the same charms whatever you stake.
Plinko
Buy five balls for one stake, pick a chute and drop them. Double-click a chute to drop into it. Drop them as fast as you like - all five can be in the air at once and they knock each other about on the way down.
The nine buckets keep changing what they hold, and a ball takes whatever is under it when it lands. Buckets come up Common, Fine, Rare or Fabled, and the rarity multiplies the prize - a Fabled bucket is worth fifteen of a Common one.
A bucket that catches a ball freezes on what it paid for the rest of the round, so a good bucket is worth aiming the rest of your balls at.
Once in a while a bucket comes up RAIN. Land a ball in it and five waves of balls fall, one a second, down every lane - forty-five free balls. It pays nothing by itself and cannot set off another one.
Every ball pays something.
Car keys
Every wager at any of the three games has a small chance of paying out a Skeid car key or a lowrider key - about one in twenty thousand at the standard stake. A key comes alongside the normal prize rather than instead of it, and a bigger wager is proportionally likelier.
