Helmgard

A family-and-friends RPG pack for Valheim 1.0. Vanilla Valheim pushed toward an RPG: loot with affixes and legendaries, character levels, gods to serve, and a much bigger arsenal.

This pack is for one private, invite-only server. If you were sent here, the person who invited you has the address and password.

Difficulty is the vanilla Normal preset with raids off.

Built into the server

These run on the server, so there is nothing extra to install:

• Chests put things away. Drop an item near your chests and it goes into a chest that already holds it.
• Smelters and kilns feed themselves from nearby chests (fuel and ore both have to be in range).
• Chest signs list what each chest holds.
• Building and farming cost no stamina.
• Tames take commands, and followers keep up with you.
• Map tables collect the portals, ships, ore and dungeons players discover nearby.
• Things lost in water float in a crate instead of sinking. Grab it before the next server restart.
• Chat reaches everyone, not only players standing next to you.

How to join

1. Install r2modman (or Gale), pick Valheim, and make a new profile.
2. Install this pack (Helmgard). It brings every mod at the exact version the server runs.
3. Press Start modded.
4. Create a new character (see below).
5. Join IP with the address and password you were given.

If the server says your mods don't match, update the Helmgard pack itself, never the mods inside it: per-mod Update and Update all jump past the versions the server runs, and the server refuses you. Still refused? Make a fresh profile and install Helmgard again.

⚠️ Make a NEW character

The first time a character joins, the server holds the gear and skills it brings from anywhere else: items are set aside (not deleted) and skills are reset, with every change recorded.

Valheim uses one character file for every world, so a character you have played elsewhere loses that gear and those skills in your other worlds too. Make a new character for this server and keep your main safe. Joined with your main by mistake? Stop playing and tell the server admin: everything the server held can be handed back.
