About KALI Grid Planting
From ThunderstorePlant up to a 3x3 crop grid from one normal placement. Skips blocked spots, consumes extra seeds, and rotates the grid from your position toward the plant. Server only.
KALI Grid Planting
KALI Mods · made by Kalia Version 0.1.2 · Server only · No client install
Plant one crop as usual. KALI Grid Planting fills the valid spots around it, up to a 3×3 grid, using the extra seeds in your inventory.
Move around the placement spot to change the grid's angle. The server captures the direction from your position toward the original plant when it receives the placement.
What to expect
- The vanilla preview still shows one plant.
- Up to eight additional plants appear after the server collects the required seeds.
- Every extra plant costs one matching planting item. The original plant keeps its normal cost.
- Invalid or occupied spots are skipped. A partial grid is fine.
- Fewer available seeds means fewer extra plants.
- Trees, grass, terrain cultivation and wall vines are unchanged.
Normal growth times are preserved. Ground, biome, water, height and existing-plant spacing are checked. Vanilla still decides whether a crop can grow; a roof or another obstruction can still make a placed plant unhealthy.
Supported crops
Barley, carrots, flax, jotun puffs, kale, magecaps, oats, onions, poteitr and turnips, plus the carrot, kale, onion and turnip seed-producing variants.
Existing crops loaded from a save do not start new grids. Only new eligible player placements trigger it.
Seed collection and returns
The server uses native item transfers to collect extra seeds. You may see vanilla transfer notifications. Rapid placements queue their extra seed collection while ordinary planting continues.
If a spot becomes invalid before the grid finishes, only unspent seeds are returned. Pending transfers are recorded for recovery after a restart. Let active planting finish before uninstalling; removing the plugin during a pending transfer can leave that transfer unfinished.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/local.finally.gridplanting.cfg:
[GridPlanting]
Enabled = true
Grid size, supported crops and spacing rules are fixed in this release. There is no client grid preview or rotation hotkey.
Compatibility and testing
Requires ServersideQoL 2.5.1 and its dependencies. Verified on a Windows Valheim 1.0.20 dedicated server with the vanilla transfer protocol.
The current 0.1.2 build passed 74 native runtime assertions, including partial grids, seed costs, returns, queued placement direction and disconnection handling. The latest rotation change still needs broader remote-client gameplay testing. Avoid combining it with another multi-plant mod acting on the same placement.
Removing it
Finish active planting and pending seed returns, then stop the server and remove FinallyGridPlanting.dll. Crops already created are ordinary plants and remain in the world.
Installation
- Back up your world and existing configuration, then stop the dedicated server.
- Install BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351. Also install ServersideQoL-2.5.1, with their declared dependencies. These are separate projects by ArgusMagnus.
- Merge the package's
BepInExfolder into the dedicated-server folder. Keep the subfolders intact. - Start the server and check
BepInEx/LogOutput.logfor a successful plugin load.
Install on the server only. Clients need no mod. These releases target Windows dedicated servers; console-client and Linux-server compatibility have not been independently validated.
The DLL and configuration names still begin with Finally or local.finally, the project's original internal name. Keep only one copy of this plugin installed.
