About Valheim Enhanced Difficulty

From Thunderstore

A harder, expanded and rebalanced Valheim experience with custom progression, loot, combat, content and quality-of-life changes.

Valheim Enhanced Difficulty

English

Valheim Enhanced Difficulty is a Vanilla+ modpack focused on harder combat, expanded progression, more rewarding loot and additional world content without turning Valheim into excessive grind.

The pack is designed primarily for cooperative play, but it can also be played solo.

> Important for version 1.2.0: the tested profile uses Smoothbrain Backpacks 1.3.10 from Hexium. MagicRevamp requires Backpacks. This exact version is not included as a Thunderstore dependency, so install it manually before playing: > > https://valheim.hexium.gg/mods/Smoothbrain/Backpacks

At the time this release was prepared, the Thunderstore Backpacks package was on an older version than the tested profile, so the modpack does not force an automatic downgrade.

What's new in 1.2.0

New mods

  • Wizardry (Therzie) — elemental staves and mage content.
  • ValheimCuisine — additional food and cooking.
  • Workstation Search — search field in crafting stations.
  • NokepArmorSets — 56 armor sets from Meadows to Ashlands with full-set bonuses; the sets are added to EpicLoot item pools.

  • Wizardry elemental staves: damage ×2.

Difficulty and CLLC

Creature Level and Loot Control (CLLC) is the main mod responsible for creature difficulty in this modpack.

CLLC is used as the central system for:

  • creature star levels;
  • enemy health scaling;
  • enemy damage scaling;
  • star spawn chances;
  • stronger high-level creatures;
  • boss difficulty scaling.

The configuration is adjusted so that starred enemies are a real threat, while avoiding excessive "health sponge" gameplay.

Version 1.1.0 uses CLLCCompatibility Crashfixx instead of the older compatibility patch. This keeps CLLC working on the current Valheim 1.0 branch and fixes the fatal crash that could occur when spawning bosses.

| System | Responsibility | | --- | --- | | CLLC | Enemy difficulty, stars and scaling | | SkillsReworked | Character level, XP and attributes | | TalentTree | Character builds and talent progression | | EpicLoot | Magical equipment and item progression | | MagicRevamp | Spells, magical weapons and mage progression | | Drop That | Additional resource and trophy drops | | DropMoreLoot | Selected resource quantity adjustments |

RPG Progression

Version 1.1.0 replaces the previous ExperienceSystem / NorseDemigods progression layer with:

  • SkillsReworked 2.0.0 — character Level, XP and four core attributes;
  • TalentTree 2.3.0 — a large talent tree built around the SkillsReworked level system.

The goal is to provide a clearer long-term character build without stacking several unrelated class/level systems on top of each other.

MagicRevamp

The previous MagicPlugin setup has been replaced by MagicRevamp 1.5.1.

MagicRevamp provides:

  • biome-based magical progression;
  • staves and wands;
  • mage armor sets;
  • a Spell Table;
  • many craftable spells;
  • spell switching and a dedicated spell HUD.

The pack also includes a Russian localization dependency for MagicRevamp.

Backpacks 1.3.10 is required by the tested MagicRevamp setup and must currently be installed manually from Hexium.

EpicLoot Changes

EpicLoot has been rebalanced for this modpack.
