About OrthodoxValheim
From ThunderstoreOrthodox church building pieces, painted icons, iconostasis, an altar table and a life-size crucifix. Windows and Linux.
Orthodox Valheim
Build Orthodox churches and monastery interiors in Valheim.
- 71 Rila building pieces: masonry, striped walls, arches, galleries, stairs, roofs, vaults, apses and domes.
- Painted icons, carved iconostasis modules, Royal Doors and wooden crosses.
- A cloth-covered altar table with a Gospel Book, tabernacle, cross and seven burning lamps.
- A separate life-size painted crucifix on a floor stand.
Art and references
The Rila building pieces were made with generative AI and are based on the architecture of Rila Monastery. The icons are scans from 14th century icons from Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. No icons were created with AI.
Installation
Install with a Thunderstore-compatible mod manager and launch your modded profile. BepInEx and Jotunn are listed as dependencies.
The same package includes Windows x64 and Linux bundles. The plugin selects the matching files automatically. Windows bundles include Direct3D 11 and Vulkan shaders; Linux bundles include OpenGL and Vulkan support. macOS is not included.
For manual installation, copy the contents of BepInEx into your modded Valheim installation. Keep the Assets/windows and Assets/linux directories beside OrthodoxValheimPlugin.dll.
Building
Equip the Hammer. Rila architecture appears under Rila; icons, iconostasis, altar table and crucifix appear under Tsargrad.
Rila pieces cost 1 Stone at the Stonecutter. The altar table and crucifix require a Workbench. They are separate placeable pieces; place the crucifix behind the altar. Rila architecture and the new altar furnishings do not decay in rain.
Install the mod on participating clients and the server when using its pieces in multiplayer. Keep one copy of OrthodoxValheimPlugin.dll in the profile. Back up an older manual install before replacing it.
Compatibility
Built against Valheim 1.0.21 and Jotunn 2.30.2, using Unity 6000.0.75f1. Linux Rila architecture has been inspected in game. Windows bundles have been built, but Windows gameplay and the altar furnishings' placement/save/reload still need an in-game check.
See the included CREDITS.txt for the Rila photographic texture attribution. The supplied crucifix image is used directly, with no generated figures or inscriptions.
