VikingsPortals

A new way to travel through the world of Valheim! VikingsPortals turns portals into a teleportation network, allowing players to select destinations directly from the map, configure access permissions, and protect their portals.

• Map-based teleportation without linking portals by name.
• Five access modes: Public, Private, Group, Guild, and Admin.
• Favorite portals system.
• Protection against destruction and unauthorized changes.
• Server-configurable portal limits.
• Custom glow colors for each access mode.
• Optional integration with group and guild systems.

The mod must be installed on the server and all clients.

For Players

Teleportation

• Step into a portal to automatically open the map.
• Available portals are displayed with their own icons.
• Left-click a portal icon to teleport to it.
• Closing the map or leaving the portal cancels the selection.

Access Modes

Each portal can have one of the following modes:

• Public: available to all players.
• Private: only the owner can use it.
• Group: available to group members.
• Guild: available to guild members.
• Admin: reserved for administrators.

To change the mode, hold Left Shift and press the Use key on the portal.

Only the owner and administrators can change the mode. Available modes depend on the server configuration.

Favorite Portals

• Right-click a portal icon to add it to your favorites.
• Favorites appear in a list on the left side of the map.
• Left-click a favorite to teleport to that portal.
• Right-click a favorite to remove it from the list.
• The list is personal and sorted by name.

Portal Protection

• Portals are immune to damage and ignored by creatures.
• Only authorized players can remove or rename portals.
• Terrain modifications near protected portals are blocked.
• Group and guild members can receive additional permissions.

Glow Effects

Portal runes, lights, and particles change color based on their access mode. Colors can be customized by the server administrator.

For Administrators

Installation is required on the server and all clients.

The mod should not be used alongside other mods that replace portal linking or protection systems.

Configuration

General Settings

• PortalVanillaOnly: limits the system to vanilla wooden and stone portals.
• PortalNameMaxLength: defines the maximum portal name length.
• TeleportItemRule: controls item restrictions during teleportation.

Access Modes

• ModeSystemEnabled: enables or disables access modes.
• ModePlayerList: defines which modes players can select.
• ModeDefault: sets the default mode for new portals.
• ModeSwitchKey: key used to cycle through access modes.

Map

• MapHidePins: hides other map icons during portal selection.
• MapShowPlayers: keeps player icons visible on the map.
• MapPinsKey: key used to show or hide portal icons.
• MapPinsOnMinimap: allows the key to work on the minimap.

Protection

• ProtectEnabled: enables portal protection.
• ProtectAdminBypass: allows administrators to bypass restrictions.
• ProtectGroupEdit: allows group members to manage portals.
• ProtectGuildEdit: allows guild members to manage portals.
• ProtectTerrainRadius: defines the protected radius against terrain modifications.

Portal Limits

• LimitWorld: maximum number of portals in the world.
• LimitPerAccount: maximum number of portals per player.

A value of 0 disables the corresponding limit.

Administrators are not subject to portal limits.

Portal Colors

• GlowEnabled: enables or disables glow effects.
• GlowPublic: color of public portals.
• GlowPrivate: color of private portals.
• GlowGroup: color of group portals.
• GlowGuild: color of guild portals.
• GlowAdmin: color of admin portals.

Colors use hexadecimal values.

Optional Integrations

Groups

Enables Group mode, allowing group members to use shared portals.

The owner must be online for the integration to identify their group.

Guilds

Enables Guild mode.

The owner's guild is linked to the portal, allowing guild members to access it even when the owner is offline.

VikingsAscension

Integration with the VikingsAscension guild system.

When both guild systems are available, VikingsAscension takes priority.

Without compatible integrations, Group and Guild modes are unavailable.

VikingsPortals was inspired by Target Portal, but introduces different design choices to better meet the specific needs of certain servers.
