About ReefPortals

From Thunderstore

The Reef's build of Cross Server Portals Continued (GPL-3): portals that carry you to another server. Adds a 4th tag field with the destination's password so private servers link without a prompt. Source in the zip.

ReefPortals — Cross Server Portals Continued, The Reef build

A build of Cross Server Portals Continued by jcruse03 (itself the Valheim 1.0 continuation of lunarbin's Cross Server Portals), licensed GPL-3.0. Same plugin GUID (lunarbin.games.valheim) and version as upstream 1.3.1, so a client on this build pairs with a server on the upstream one and vice versa.

What it does

Tag a portal Source|host:port|Target and walking through it logs you out and joins that server, putting you out of the portal whose tag (or source tag) is Target. Glyphs turn green on such portals. Ordinary portals are untouched.

What The Reef changed

One thing: a 4th tag field carries the destination server's password.

main|203.0.113.5:2458|nursery|the-nursery-password

When the portal joins that exact host and port and the server asks for a password, the field is supplied to the game's own password step; no dialog. The password is only ever used for the server the portal points at (a later manual join to another server gets the normal dialog). It is written nowhere else than in the portal tag you typed. This is meant for private servers among friends, where the password is shared anyway: anyone who can read the portal tag can read the password. If that is not acceptable for your servers, use the upstream mod with PortalPass instead.

Everything else — PreserveStatusEffects, glyph and effect colours, PromptBeforeTeleport, RequireAdminToRename (ServerSync) — is upstream, unchanged.

Install

Both sides: every client and every server that takes part in cross-server travel. r2modman: install from Thunderstore. Server: BepInEx/plugins/ReefTeam-ReefPortals/ValheimCrossServerPortals.dll.

Source

GPL-3.0: the complete modified source is in this zip under src/ (reef.patch is the diff against upstream commit e9a9732). Build: .NET SDK 8, dotnet build src/CrossServerPortals.csproj -c Release /p:GamePath=<Valheim client folder> /p:BepInExCore=<a BepInEx/core folder>.

Upstream credits: lunar91 (original), jcruse03 (1.0 continuation). The Reef build: Synistro / ReefTeam, 2026-09-17.
