ReBallista completely overhauls the vanilla ballista AI into a lethal, reliable base defense system! No more getting shot in the back by your own ballistas or watching precious bolts fly harmlessly over crawling enemies.

By default, ballistas now strictly protect you and your pets, track targets smoothly, lead their shots based on enemy movement, and fire laser-focused bolts with subtle mid-flight homing.

✨ How It Works (Made Simple)

• A Real Friend, Not a Hazard: Vanilla ballistas are notorious for friendly fire. ReBallista completely disables player and tamed creature targeting by default. Build perimeter defenses without fear.
• Smart Motion Lead: Instead of shooting directly at where a target used to be, the turret reads the enemy's velocity vector and leads the shot according to distance and ammo flight time.
• Mid-Air Micro-Guidance: Even erratic or suddenly turning enemies can't escape: bolts apply a smooth homing adjustment in flight when closing in within 25 meters.
• Fixing the Short Target Bug: Vanilla ballistas constantly overshoot short hitboxes. ReBallista dynamically measures target height and lowers the aimpoint for low-slung enemies.
• Silky Smooth Tracking: Turret rotation and acceleration have been completely reworked, giving the ballista a responsive, high-speed traverse while sweeping and aiming.

📥 Installation

Using a Mod Manager (Recommended)

1. Install r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager.
2. Search for ReBallista by Skarif.
3. Click Download with Dependencies and launch the game!

Manual Install

1. Make sure you have BepInExPack Valheim installed.
2. Download the mod archive and drop ReBallista.dll into:

Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/.

1. Launch the game and enjoy your deadly automated defenses!

Configuration

After the first launch, edit BepInEx/config/com.skarif.reballista.cfg and restart the game.

Friendly-target protection controls target selection; it does not prevent damage from stray bolts. For custom structures intended to attack the player, use EnableFriendlyFire = true.
