About Cofferforge
From ThunderstoreBETA: Compact rows and direct stacking for all seven vanilla buildable chest types. Chest-on-chest support with normal inventory, permissions and structural limits.
Cofferforge
Build compact storage rows and stack vanilla chests directly on other chests, without shelves between them.
Rotate chests normally so their narrow ends face the aisle, then use the hammer's normal automatic or manual snapping. Cofferforge adds snap points across each chest's bottom and closed top. The same points work along a lower row, up to a second row, and across that upper row. There is no extra clearance for opening lids; overlapping lid animations do not change container interaction.
With automatic snapping, aim at a chest's top to stack above it, or at a side to continue that row at the same bottom height. Flat-floor placement uses the chest's closed bottom, avoiding sideways offsets from rounded barrels or sloped lids. Manual corner selection remains available through the normal snap controls.
Supported storage
All seven enabled chest prefabs in the Valheim 1.0.21 hammer table are covered:
| Chest | Vanilla prefab | |---|---| | Wooden chest | piece_chest_wood | | Reinforced chest | piece_chest | | Personal chest | piece_chest_private | | Barrel storage | piece_chest_barrel | | Black metal chest | piece_chest_blackmetal | | Grausten chest | piece_chest_grausten | | Wardrobe storage | piece_chest_warderobe |
Mixed sizes align at their corners and edges. Manual snapping can help choose the desired corner. Larger upper chests may overhang smaller ones; vanilla collision and structural limits still apply.
What changes
- Chests gain eight native corner snap points, based on their closed geometry. Four corners on each of the top and bottom keep rows aligned without half-width snap positions.
- A chest may accept another chest as support. Walls, floors and other building pieces still see the original support restriction.
- Automatic chest-to-chest side placement may continue a level row. The native restriction on tilted surfaces remains for manual/free placement, slopes and unrelated pieces.
- Vanilla inventory size, item stacks, recipes, station requirements, personal ownership, wards, damage, material strength, removal checks and resource refunds remain in charge.
- Loot chests, pots, gifts, carts and other containers are outside this mod's scope. No new build pieces or save-data formats are added.
Installation and multiplayer
Requires BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351 (denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.2351). Put Cofferforge.dll in BepInEx/plugins/Cofferforge.
Install the same version on every player and the server. The mod preserves Valheim's normal ownership and support calculations rather than adding a network protocol; it does not enforce matching installs. A peer without the mod can evaluate a stack using vanilla rules and destroy unsupported upper chests.
Before disabling or removing Cofferforge, empty and dismantle the upper rows, or add ordinary supports under them. Saved chests remain vanilla objects, but vanilla does not support chest-on-chest stacks. Normal destruction and item/resource drops remain active.
Beta status
Package 0.1.2 is an icon-only update to the public beta. It contains the unchanged, tested runtime DLL version 0.1.1, which still appears as 0.1.1 in BepInEx. That runtime was tested on Valheim 1.0.21: automated native checks passed, and the hands-on reinforced-chest snapping retest was successful. No gameplay changes are included in 0.1.2.
Real multiplayer and dedicated-server ownership transfer have not yet been validated. Exact hammer resource consumption, refund amounts and item-drop counts have not been independently measured. The all-peers/server installation requirement and uninstall precautions above still apply.
