About Caveling Divining Rod
From mod.ioCaveling Divining Rod — held in your hotbar, shows a HUD arrow ring to every nearby dig spot. Arrows fade and shrink with distance.
Caveling Divining Rod
Never walk past a dig spot again.
The Caveling Divining Rod is a craftable dowsing tool that works the moment it sits in your hotbar — no clicking, no charges, no use-action. While held, it surrounds your character with a ring of golden HUD arrows, each one pointing toward a nearby dig spot.
Features
- Passive dig-spot radar. A ring of arrows around you points to every dig spot within range (30 tiles by default) — the rod works whenever it's held, even if it isn't your selected slot.
- Distance at a glance. The nearest spots are shown (5 by default). Each arrow fades and shrinks with distance, so the closest opportunity is always the brightest and biggest.
- Configurable in-game. Open Options → Mod settings to tune the radar live — detection range, how many arrows show, and arrow size — or switch the rod off entirely (its radar and Iron Workbench recipe disappear; a rod you already have stays in your inventory, shown greyed out). No config files.
- Any hotbar slot. Slots 1–10 all count — it doesn't have to be the active one.
- Stays out of the way. Auto-hides during inventory, menus, and loading screens; it never overlaps the vanilla UI.
- English & German, following your in-game language.
How to craft
Open an Iron Workbench and craft the rod with:
- 4× Copper Bar
- 1× Iron Bar
- 1× Mechanical Part
- 5× Slime
Iron-tier balanced — roughly available once you've set up basic metalworking.
Requirements
- CoreLib (required) — item registry & entity mapping
- Simple Crafting Pool Extender (required) — lets the Iron Workbench show the extra crafting tab this rod adds
- Mod Settings Menu (required) — hosts the in-game settings screen
mod.io will prompt you to install all three when you subscribe.
Good to know
- Singleplayer-focused; verified on Core Keeper 1.3.0.2. Multiplayer should work but isn't fully verified.
- All dig-spot biome variants currently share one arrow sprite.
- The rod reflects what's currently in the world — it doesn't remember what you've already dug.
