About Hoard Helper
From mod.ioYour whole base becomes one big inventory. Workbenches pull materials from every named chest, quick stack sorts your loot into them, and /cr find tells you where anything is. Name a chest and it joins in. Leave it unnamed and it is left alone.
You know the drill. You want to craft one thing. The copper is in the chest by the furnace, the wood is across the base, and the workbench only sees the two chests next to it. So you walk. Then you walk back. Then you forget the fiber.
Hoard Helper turns your base into one big inventory. Every workbench, anvil and cooking pot reads from all your chests, up to 100 tiles away. Press Q with a full backpack and your loot sorts itself into the chests where that stuff already lives. Lost something? Ask the mod where it is. Same chests, same recipes, same game. You just stop walking.
NAME A CHEST AND IT JOINS IN
The one habit the mod asks of you: give your chests a name. Open a chest, click the label at the top, type anything ("Ores", "Food", "Junk"). Named chests are the ones the mod uses. Unnamed chests are left exactly as they are.
Why names? Because the world is full of chests that are not yours: ruins, dungeons, that boss room you cleared last week. Without the rule, quick stack would happily fill a chest three screens away that you never saw. With it, the mod only ever touches what you named. And the flip side is a feature: want a display chest nobody messes with, or a stash quick stack should skip? Leave it unnamed. Carried a boss chest home? Place it, name it, done.
COMMANDS (type them in chat)
/cr help shows the list.
/cr menu opens a small window: crafting range, quick stack range, chests to read, and the named-chest rule. Drag, close, done. It remembers.
/cr find iron tells you which chests hold iron, how far and in which direction.
/cr chests lists the chests around you and whether the mod uses them.
/cr range 60, /cr quick 30, /cr cap 100 set the numbers directly.
/cr own off turns the named-chest rule off if you really want every chest in range.
PLAYING WITH FRIENDS
Everyone needs the mod (the game checks). The host's settings are the ones that count; joined players see the window read-only. Chest names are shared, so a chest your friend names works for your workbench too. Measured on the host: 60 fps with guests connected, same as vanilla.
INSTALL
Subscribe, restart the game, done. In a world, type /cr status in chat to see it running.
FAQ
My workbench does not see my chest. Does the chest have a name? Unnamed chests are skipped on purpose. /cr chests shows what the mod thinks of each chest around you.
Does it change the game's balance? No. Same recipes, same materials, same item stacks. It only changes how far a station looks and where quick stack is allowed to put things.
Why is quick stack shorter (20 tiles) than crafting (100)? Reading from far away cannot lose anything; writing into a chest you cannot see can. You can raise it in /cr menu; with the named-chest rule on, it is safe at any range.
Something went wrong. Leave a comment here with what you did and what happened. The mod logs everything under [CraftingRange] in the game's Player.log.
