About PokeBall
From mod.ioThrow a ball at an animal and catch it.
PokeBall
Throw a ball at an animal and catch it.
The Capture Ball is a thrown item, not a tool you walk up and use. Equip a stack, aim with the mouse, and throw. If it reaches an animal, the animal is pulled inside, the ball drops to the ground and wobbles twice, and the third beat decides it: the animal is yours, or it bursts back out. If the ball hits anything else, or nothing at all, it is simply gone.
A caught animal arrives exactly as if you had caged it by hand - same cage item, and it keeps its name, the meals it has eaten and its breeding setting.
Crafting
Two iron bars and four fibre makes five Capture Balls, at any workbench that already crafts a Cattle Cage, and at the My Mods Table if you have that mod installed.
Settings
Available in the Mod Settings menu if you have Mod Settings Menu and Mod Settings Proxy installed. Otherwise the same option lives in a plain config file.
Capture chance - how likely a ball that reaches an animal is to catch it. 70% by default, and adjustable from 50% up to 100% if you would rather not lose balls to bad luck.
The roll is made on the server, so in multiplayer everybody sees the same result and there is no moment where a catch looks successful and then undoes itself.
Ball appearance - which projectile the ball flies as. Its own Poke Ball by default: a small red-and-white ball that tumbles end over end as it flies. If you would rather it looked like something from the base game, the old choices are all still there.
Notes
This mod is self-contained. Nothing else needs to be installed for the ball to be thrown.
The ball does no damage. It cannot hurt or kill what you throw it at, it cannot splash onto animals standing nearby, and it will not chew through walls or floors on its way past.
Only animals can be caught - the same set of creatures the vanilla Cattle Cage works on. Throwing a ball at a monster does nothing except waste the ball.
The ball is thrown by the game's own ranged-weapon code, so it obeys the same aiming and the same throw cooldown as anything else you throw, and exactly one is taken from the stack per throw.
