About Smart Splitter
From mod.ioThree-way filterable splitters. Hook regular splitters to electricity and filter incoming items to your heart's content.
THE MOD USES THE VANILLA SPLITTER AND TRANSFORMS IT INTO A SMART SPLITTER WHEN CONNECTED TO ELECTRICITY
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THEM TO AN ELECTRICITY SOURCE
The vanilla splitter works perfectly fine, this mod does not hijack and keeps any functionality, as long as a splitter is not powered by electricity the vanilla splitter takes over and works just as it should
How It Works
Place a normal Conveyor Belt Splitter, connect it to electricity, then look at it and press the interact key.
When powered, the splitter becomes a Smart Splitter and opens a custom filtering panel. The panel shows three lanes:
- Left
- Center
- Right
Each lane controls one possible output direction of the splitter.
What the new smart splitter brings:
- Overhauled lanes:
- The smart splitter now has one input lane and 3 output lanes, instead of the 2 input lanes and 2 output lanes the regular splitter has.
- Filterable lanes. For each lane, you can choose between:
- Any (allows all the items to go through the specific lane)
- None (does not allow any item go to through the specific lane)
- Specific item which you can select via the eyedropper tool present in the UI, directly from your inventory.
- Custom UI:
- Similar to the already existing vanilla Filtering UI panel but with 3 filters instead of one.
- Item history (You can view all the items you have previously selected as filters, for ANY splitter, forever. As long as it's the same world.)
- Routing Priority:
- Matches incoming items against the set filters and routes items accordingly.
- For items that fit under multiple priority filters, they fulfill both filters, splitting or alternating properly.
- Filters set for exact items will override the "Any" filter, therefore items that have a designated filter for themselves will always go through this lane, even if there is one or multiple "Any" lanes.
- Multiplayer:
- The host/server must have the mod installed for Smart Splitters to work. Other players should also install it to be able to properly see the custom visual like the splitter skin, UI, highlights, etc.
- If only the host has the mod installed, other players will be able to see the items being routed correctly, but they will not be able to see the custom visuals or interact with these splitters.
- Edge-case situations:
- In case of a fully filtered splitter that only looks for a given set of 3 items, all other items that go on the splitter will be automatically moved off the belt when near the splitter, to avoid blockages.
- Placement Preview:
- To properly indicate that the new smart splitter now has 3 working lanes, the placement hologram has been changed to a proper hologram displaying 3 arrows, accordingly to the direction of the currently 3 outputting lanes.
