About Tag & Stack
From mod.ioPut an item icon on every chest and assign it any mix of 29 categories. A category chest takes matching items only, and quick-stacking fills it while it is still empty, which vanilla quick-stack never does.
Chest icons
Open a chest and click an item from your cursor onto the label slot. That item's icon appears on the chest in the world, and the item stays in your inventory. The chest remembers which icon to draw, nothing more, so there is no way to lose the item to a crafting station standing nearby.
The gear button in the chest window controls position, scale, opacity and visibility. The icon can show always, only when the chest is under your cursor, or follow the chest sign toggle.
Chest categories
A chest can carry any combination of 29 categories: ore, seeds, cooked food, fish, bait, pets, building blocks, furniture, natural ground, music sheets, instruments and the rest. The list comes from the game's own item taxonomy, the same one behind the creative menu.
A chest with categories takes matching items only. The server enforces that, so the rule holds even when the interface lets you try.
Quick-stacking to nearby chests then fills a category chest while it is still empty. Vanilla quick-stack only tops up stacks that already exist, which is why a fresh chest never receives anything until you seed it by hand.
Quick-stacking also empties the pouches and bags you are wearing, skips whatever you have locked, and leaves the hotbar alone. Twenty items move per press; press again if a large inventory needs a second sweep.
Multiplayer
The server decides. Icons and restrictions look the same to everyone, and a chest set up by one player behaves the same for the rest.
The mod adds no new network types, so a player without it can still join. They see plain chests, and a category chest refuses their items without saying why.
Removing the mod
Chests keep working. The icons vanish and the restrictions lift, because the mod computes both at load instead of writing them into the save. Stored items stay where they are.
