Amator Phasma's Recycling

by AmatorPhasma · for Factorio

This is a simple modification that adds up to two by-products to the intermediate products: scrap metal with a probability of 10% for one or 5% for two scrap metal types. This scrap metal can be collected and later processed in a recycler and then smelted into plates again. It's very simple, but it adds a small layer of complexity to your transport-belt layout. In the early game you can easily solve this with splitters or filter-inserters. Later in high-production areas, you have a dedicated transport-belt.

__About this mod:__

This is a simple modification that adds up to two by-products to the intermediate products: The scrap metal probability is 10% by default (can be changed in the startup settings) for one scrap metal type, this value is divided by the amount of scrap metal types in a recipe. (example: iron gear wheel: 10% for iron scrap metal, low density structure: 5% for copper and 5% for steel scrap metal) This scrap metal can be collected and later processed in a recycler and then smelted into plates.

It's very simple, but it adds a small layer of complexity to your transport-belt layout. In the early game you can easily solve this with splitters or filter-inserters. Later in high-production areas, you have a dedicated transport-belt for this purpose.

This mod supports all Bob and Angel metals if you had one or both of them.

__Tested with vanilla factorio, with Bob's and/or Angel's and/or Earendel's mods. (See list below)__

__Future?__

  • Since version 0.18.00 (Factorio 0.17.x) only bug fixing, balancing and compatibility layers for other mods.
  • Since version 0.19.02 (Factorio 0.18.x) only bug fixing, balancing and compatibility layers for other mods.

__So it should be safe to take every update without running into a total messed up factory__

FAQ

Remote interfaces in the data and control stage

Version 0.19.0 (online version: https://gitlab.com/AmatorPhasma/apm_factorio/blob/master/doc/interfaces.md)

__MOD: Amator Phasma's Library__

__Data stage__:

Define an item as radioactiv in the data stage generates the descripton for it.
*usage in any data stage type after this library's data stage with:
apm.lib.utils.item.add.radioactive_description(item_name :: string, level :: int)
level: (optional / default is 1)

  • 1: low radioactive
  • 2: medium radioactive
  • 3: high radioactive

Examples:

apm.lib.utils.item.add.radioactive_description('apm_yellowcake')
apm.lib.utils.item.add.radioactive_description('apm_yellowcake', 1)

___ __Control stage__: Define an item as radioactiv in the control stage by using a remote interface to register or unregister it to give the player damge if he has one in his inventory.

Register an item:
remote.call('apm_radiation', 'add_item', item_name :: string, level :: int)
level: (optional / default is 1)

  • 1: low radioactive
  • 2: medium radioactive
  • 3: high radioactive

Unregister an items:
remote.call('apm_radiation', 'remove_item', item_name :: string)

List all registered items:
remote.call('apm_radiation', 'list_items') -> returns a table

Examples:

remote.call('apm_radiation', 'add_item', 'uranium-ore', 1)
remote.call('apm_radiation', 'remove_item', 'uranium-ore')
remote.call('apm_radiation', 'list_items')

Define an equipment with the burner property.

Register an equipment:
remote.call('apm_equipment', 'add_burner_equipment', string :: LuaGeneratorEquipment.name)

Unregister an items:
remote.call('apm_equipment', 'del_burner_equipment', string :: LuaGeneratorEquipment.name)

Examples:

remote.call('apm_equipment', 'add_burner_equipment', 'fusion-reactor-equipment')
remote.call('apm_equipment', 'del_burner_equipment', 'fusion-reactor-equipment')

You can also register to the following events: they return event{player = LuaPlayer, LuqEquipment = equipment}

  • event_on_burner_equipment_low_fuel
script.on_event(remote.call("apm_equipment", "event_on_burner_equipment_low_fuel"), function(event)
    -- your stuff here
end)
  • event_on_burner_equipment_burnt_result_inventory_full
script.on_event(remote.call("apm_equipment", "event_on_burner_equipment_burnt_result_inventory_full"), function(event)
    -- your stuff here
end)

WARNING: this has to be done within on_init and on_load, otherwise the game will error about the remote.call

__MOD: Amator Phasma's Recycling__

__Data stage__:

You can easily add scrap metal to products in the data-updates phase with:
apm.lib.utils.recycling.scrap.add(recipe=LuaRecipe.name, metal=Type/String, probability=Type/Double)
-- The probability is optional to overwrite the value from the settings

Example:

-- This results in a 10% probability for iron scrap
apm.lib.utils.recycling.scrap.add({recipe='pipe', metal='iron'})
