Eight compression levels take you from 4:1 to 65,536:1. Every step runs in a real machine with real ingredients, crafting time and electricity. Unpack your bundles when you need the original materials.

Space Age is optional. Install through the game's mod browser or choose the matching package on the Downloads tab. Both mods work independently.

Meet the machines

Each machine has its own Blender model, icon, operating mechanism and matching animated shadows. Worn steel, copper and enamel match Manifold's industrial palette; exposed press frames and moving rams give this family its own character.

Your first compression line

1. Research Resource Compression after Automation and Electronics.
2. Build and power a Basic press, then select a level-one recipe.
3. Feed four ordinary items to produce one level-one bundle. Four of those become one level-two bundle.
4. Use a Decompressor to reverse a step and recover the original materials.

16 iron plates → 4 level-one bundles → 1 level-two bundle. Unpacking reverses the same chain. Numbered badges keep the levels readable in your inventories.

Quantum processing supports iron ore, copper ore, coal, stone, iron plates and copper plates. Other supported materials reach level four. Compressed goods must be unpacked before ordinary use.

Better together with Manifold

Manifold can transport and store compressed goods and supply compressor jobs through real machine inventories. Connect a crafting interface beside each selected machine to a CPU, encoder, terminal and storage bus. Use a separate machine for each required step. Remove modules for Manifold automatic crafting and select explicit recipe preferences when reverse or bulk recipes share an output.

Settings and material conservation

Configure energy use, beacon range, maximum level and quantum compression in startup settings. Existing higher-level goods remain unpackable when lowering the limit. Custom modules trade power and pollution for speed.

Compression conserves materials: no bonus productivity output or quality rerolls. Perishable and stateful items are excluded from new compression; legacy compressed magazines remain unpackable.

Both game branches passed standalone and combined load checks, native production and save/reload, with and without Space Age. Historic 1.1 migrations, multiplayer joins and arbitrary overhaul combinations remain unverified.
