Your settlers aren't just workers — they're people.
Living Settlements brings a Rimworld-inspired social simulation to your Necesse colonies. Every settler develops a unique personality, forms their own opinions of the people around them, falls in love, gets their heart broken, and everything in between.
Personality Each settler is born with a combination of traits: Kind, Grumpy, Shy, Romantic, Cheerful, and more! Each trait is assigned with varying intensity. These traits shape how settlers naturally feel about one another. A Cheerful settler might get along with everyone, while a Grumpy Perfectionist clashes with the Lazy guy next door.
Relationships Settlers build relationships through daily life. Working side by side, sitting together, having conversations, or simply being near each other — every interaction nudges their feelings. Relationships are asymmetric: one settler might adore someone who can barely stand them.
Romance & Courtship When feelings run deep enough, a settler may decide to make a move. Watch as they approach their crush, confess their feelings, and either start a new partnership — or get rejected. Romantic settlers fall harder and faster, while rejection hits them like a truck.
It All Matters Relationships directly affect happiness. Settlers who sleep near friends thrive. Settlers stuck next to someone they hate grow increasingly miserable over time. Partners separated into different rooms will miss each other more and more until you fix it. Breakups are devastating. Even being single around happy couples stings.
Features - 9 personality traits with intensity levels, uniquely assigned to each settler - Directional relationship scores (-100 to +100) that evolve through daily interactions - Multi-phase courtship with visible thought bubbles and expressions - Sexual preference system (straight, bi, gay) - Happiness modifiers that ramp over time — neglect your settlers' social needs at your peril - Neighbor system based on bed proximity - Chat notifications for courtship events - Full relationship UI accessible through settler dialogue
Coming Soon - Children & family trees - Settler professions influenced by personality - Gift giving between settlers - Jealousy & love triangles
