Manaworks

A fantasy mana power grid — magic meets industry. Light up your base with ley energy and let the arcane do the work.

Manaworks turns power generation into a wireless network of glowing ley crystals. No wires, no cables — just nodes that chain across your base, feed your machines, and bathe you in a mana field that keeps your reserves (and your health) topped up. Grow it from a single crystal into a humming arcane home... if you can keep the mana flowing.

✨ 1.0 — OUT OF BETA

Manaworks hits 1.0. Arcane worker golems are in the game (find the secret to build them), grow pods now feed their harvest straight into a Mana Sorter on the grid, and big automated bases run smooth. Huge thanks to everyone who tested and shaped the mod.

⚡ The Grid

  • Ley Nodes — the wireless backbone. Place them and they auto-chain into one shared grid. Stand in a node's field and your mana (plus a little health) regenerates fast, so even non-mage classes benefit.
  • Sources — power the grid with Solar Attuners (soak up daylight), Aura Siphons (run day and night, surge in storms, need open space), and the Demonic Generator (burn living matter for cheap, dirty power).
  • Manaliths — giant mana crystals that store surplus and cover demand spikes. Click one for a live grid-telemetry dashboard (production, demand, powered vs. shed), toggle a grid-coverage overlay to see every node's reach, and watch the crystal glow with its charge — bright blue when full, a red alarm blink when the grid runs dry.

🔧 The Machines

  • Arcane Turrets — auto-target and blast hostiles at a steep mana cost while firing. No friendly fire, tier-scaled damage (a Fallen turret one-shots a zombie), per-tier spell effects, and optional line-of-sight.
  • Mana Drills — conjure ore your pickaxe can mine (plus the matching stone); higher tiers dig richer veins and teleport ore straight into your forges.
  • Bloom Pods — mana greenhouses that grow themselves. The Crop Pod runs three crops at once, replanting from its own harvest; the Bush Pod grows fruit bushes that propagate to fill the pod; the Tree Pod raises a fruit tree for a big boosted harvest. Plant straight from your inventory and each pod auto-harvests a full load — then pushes it to a Mana Sorter on the grid. The Tungsten Crop Pod adds a settler-stocked fertilizer slot for far faster growth.
  • Mana Sorter — the automation hub. Drop items in and it files them into the right chests; grow pods on the grid feed their harvest straight into it, so produce and seeds sort themselves into fridges and storage.
  • Grid-Powered Forges — attuned forge tiers smelt on mana instead of wood.
  • Upgraded Appliances — Cheese Press, Compost Bin, Cooling Box and Grain Mill in Demonic, Tungsten and Fallen tiers: faster, bigger, some with bonus yields. Every tier upgrades IN PLACE — hit the upgrade button, no re-crafting and no lost contents (your vanilla stations are left untouched).
  • Firebolt — an upgraded witch broom (faster, more stamina, glides through trees), brewed at the new Transmutation Table.

🎒 Arcane Bags

Two upgraded "better void bags" — but the trick is you can open them alongside a chest, machine, crafting table or merchant. Move, sell and craft straight from your bag instead of shuffling everything to your inventory first. Each bag (and each pouch nested inside it) gets the full vanilla bag button bar — sort, restock, quick-stack, loot/transfer-all, rename, auto-pickup — loot auto-fills into bags stored inside it, and you can even fire ammo straight from an ammo pouch tucked inside.

💠 The Economy

This is the heart of it. Every machine draws an idle trickle just to stay online, plus a bigger surge while it's working. When mana runs short, the grid sheds its lowest-priority machines first — so a raid can dim your appliances while your turrets keep firing. Balance sources, storage and load, then expand as far as your grid can feed.

🏘️ Settlement Ready

Running a settlement? Manaworks plugs right in. Assign a machine (the house button in its window) and your settlers and golems haul its output into sorted storage, keep the Demonic Generator fueled with organic matter, and clear its byproducts. Grow pods feed a Mana Sorter directly, so your harvests flow without micromanagement.

🗺️ Progression — Mana Cores

You can't build all this from scratch. The whole grid is gated behind mana cores, dropped by bosses across three clean tiers — each with named boss cores plus a generic "any core of this tier" filler, so no drop is ever wasted. To harvest a boss's core you need a Lesser Mana Condenser — a trinket the first boss (Evil's Protector) hands you, which also boosts your max mana and combat regen:

  • Lesser cores — the five biome bosses each drop their biome core, and the Void Wizard drops the generic Lesser Pure Core. These unlock the core machines and the Demonic tier.
  • Pure cores — the deep-cave bosses (Reaper, Cryo Queen, Cursed Crone, Sage & Grit, Pest Warden) drop named cores, and the Pirate Captain drops the generic Pure Core. Tungsten upgrades cost these: producers need two named cores; appliances need one named core + any core of the tier.
  • Ascended core — every ascended / Gateway-Tablet boss drops the one unified Ascended Core that gates the Fallen tier. No hunting a specific boss for a specific unlock.
