🧠 MEMORY, RELATIONSHIPS & PROMISES

Settlers remember conversations and important events over real Necesse world days and time. Memories are stored separately for each player ↔ NPC relationship. They remember preferences, personal facts, favors, conflicts, promises and gifts. Supported resource promises track verified stock and delivery, while natural deadlines use the in-game clock.

🎁 Professional requests

Professional settlers can request a modest resource and offer a profession-related gift. Transactions are authoritative: no NPC can claim an item was taken unless the game really removed it.

🏘️ VERIFIED COLONY KNOWLEDGE

Settlers can answer questions such as:

How much food do we have? Do we have enough weapons for every settler? What should we gather or craft next? Which workstation or zone is assigned?

Necesse GPT distinguishes ALL STORAGE from NPC-ACCESSIBLE STORAGE. Advice uses verified facts and never silently equips settlers or mutates colony state.

🔨 ITEMS, RECIPES & PRODUCTION

The mod reads live item and recipe registries after mods load. Local reasoning handles recipes, missing ingredients, craftable quantities, production chains and bottlenecks. Equipment advice ranks only upgrades confirmed craftable now. Real items + real recipes + real storage + real assigned workstations.

🌍 MULTILINGUAL BY DESIGN

Native settings in all 29 official Necesse languages. Messages in other languages receive basic support. NPC replies always follow the active client language.

⚙️ NATIVE IN-GAME SETTINGS

Open the normal Escape menu while playing and select:

Configure dialogue, memory, relationships, knowledge, ambient chatter and logging. Select providers/models, test the API and discover compatible models.

The absolute configuration path is printed in the server console at startup.

💬 AMBIENT CHATTER

Settlers can display native Necesse speech bubbles from local context. 0 OpenAI API calls — 0 AI tokens. Ambient chatter can be tuned or disabled.

🤖 AI PROVIDERS — CLOUD OR LOCAL

Choose one provider in the native settings window:

• OpenAI (ChatGPT) through the native Responses API
• Google Gemini through the native generateContent API
• Anthropic Claude through the native Messages API
• OpenAI-compatible / Local through Chat Completions

Compatible endpoints include LM Studio, Ollama, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq and xAI, plus custom URL/model fields. Discover Models uses bounded [code]GET /models[/code] when supported; manual entry remains available.

Each provider preserves its own key and model. There is no silent fallback. Presets fill an URL but do not guarantee every model exposes every compatible capability.

🔐 API KEYS, LOCAL PRIVACY & MULTIPLAYER

Cloud providers require your own key and may incur costs or quotas. LM Studio can run locally without a paid cloud key. Keys stay host/server-side, masked and never sent to multiplayer clients or diagnostic logs. Local models need sufficient context capacity; reload them after changing context size.
