Version 0.2.2

Unpack ammo now sits immediately beneath the clicked pack submenu. Native row IDs follow the move, keeping submenu targeting aligned. Update the server and every client, then fully restart Zomboid. Keep the same modules enabled; no world reset or new dependency is needed.

Ammo Unpack - Choose Your Boxes

Sometimes I only want to open two ammo packs, rather than empty my whole supply. This adds an Unpack ammo menu to supported sealed boxes in your inventory, carried bags and accessible nearby containers. Version 0.2.1 adds Xanny’s ammo packs too.

What you can do

 • Open one box and leave the rest sealed.
 • Open selected boxes: expand the stack and Ctrl-click the individual boxes you want.
 • Open a quantity: type 2, 5, or another available whole number.
 • Open all matching boxes: match the clicked pack type without mixing calibres. A nearby-container batch uses only that container. A carried-pack batch can find matching packs in your inventory and carried bags.

Favourite boxes are protected. Aiming or Escape cancels the remaining queue; boxes already opened stay opened. The original recipes decide what comes out and how many rounds you get. This changes no ammunition stats, weights or weapon behavior.

New in 0.2.1: Xanny packs

Supports the 17 sealed ammo-pack types in the reviewed Xanny Core/Gun Pack release .2.4-release-tech1. These packs use their own crafting recipes, so the old menu did not recognize them. You can now use the same choices without opening the crafting screen. Shotgun packs keep their original 25-shell output; the other tested packs keep their original 30-round output. Large cases/cartons and unsupported recipes remain excluded. Different calibres remain separate unless you deliberately select them together. Xanny is optional; do not install it just for this mod.

Installation

Single-player: subscribe, enable
AmmoUnpack
, and restart the game. Hosted co-op or dedicated multiplayer: the server and every client need matching files. Server owners add Workshop item
3823480669
to WorkshopItems and
AmmoUnpack
to Mods. Let Steam finish updating, then restart server and clients. No alternate module, sandbox change, Java loader or world reset is required.

This is Lua only. ZombieBuddy, Xen and Guns of Marz are not required. Keep enough carrying room: the game may put crafted output on the ground when it cannot fit.

What was tested

PZ 42.21.0, with two clients on a full copy of our Linux dedicated server and Lua checksums enabled, Xen 0.9.9.2 and Xanny Core/Gun Pack .2.4-release-tech1. Actual opening actions covered all 17 Xanny pack types, exact selected IDs, favourite protection, the quantity dialog, carried-bag transfers and cancellation by real mouse aiming. Client and server round totals matched. Cold restart/reconnect preserved the same ammo totals and unselected packs.

Earlier 0.2.0 tests covered vanilla 9mm, Guns of Marz 20/50-round boxes, Better Sorting categories, accessible loot sources and source boundaries. Those are earlier checks, not a new test of every weapon mod with Xanny. Single-player, hosted co-op, Windows/macOS and high-latency/disconnect cases have not been separately playtested. Unsupported boxes simply get no added menu.

Credits and updates

The Indie Stone supplies the game’s crafting and transfer actions. The original mod authors supply their ammo and recipes; none of their code or assets is bundled here. AYU supplies this independent menu helper.

I review changes in the required recipes and remove workarounds when the original mods handle them. Updates are not instant, and I cannot promise every mod combination works. Keep a backup before changing a modded save. Removing this helper removes its menu; it adds no permanent ammo types.

The cover is generated artwork. Gallery examples are real screenshots from isolated multiplayer tests.
