Anthro Survivors

Anthro Survivors (aka the "Furry Mod") allows you to play Project Zomboid as an anthropomorphic animal (furry)!

Build 42

The mod has been updated to support build 42. The creator software has been updated to support both B41 and B42!

  • A bug in the game prevents the character selector working in multiplayer. Choose species after starting.
  • Sub-mods have to be made Build 42-compatible. The creator is updated now!
  • Build 42 does not have shaking dry. It also doesn't have the wetness issues of B41, so it shouldn't matter.

Features

  • FULLY compatible with multiplayer
  • Works with EXISTING saves (choose on load in)
  • High mod compatibility
  • Eight unique species in addition to humans
  • Both male and female characters supported
  • Works with nearly all base game clothing (some hats and face coverings may clip)
  • Custom character creation UI for selecting species
  • Fur blood and dirt synchronized with your body
  • On Build 42, fur should have no effect. On Build 41, Fur makes you a little warmer, but provides some resistance
  • Washing and drying yourself also washes and dries your fur

Playable Species

  • Human
  • Cat (Tabby)
  • Deer (White-tailed)
  • Dog (German Shepherd)
  • Ferret (Domestic)
  • Marten (Pine)
  • Fox (Red, Black, White)
  • Jackal (Black-Backed Jackal)
  • Wolf (Gray, Black, White, Red, Maned)
  • Rabbit (Domestic)
  • Snow Leopard
  • Racoon (Common and "Spiffy")

Known glitches

This mod adds an entirely new Fur clothing layer that your character wears. This causes some harmless glitches. If anyone knows how to work around them, please leave a comment!

Clipping with some face/head items

Characters with long muzzles can stick out of things like the gas mask. But There is a sub-mod that fixes most of these! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2966972794

Minor Windows Visual Glitch

Windows users report seeing transparency issues on their character in specific circumstances (this does not happen on Linux). The clothing hole shader has been replaced to render clothing holes as solid to get around the worst of it, but this does not seem possible for other holes such as those for wounds.

Harmless Clothing Mod Conflicts

Some mods may show the Fur clothing item and let you drop or remove it (e.g. PZ Clothing UI). This is because they don't handle hidden inventory items (ones without a name). There are some fail-safes in place for this - as long as the fur gets back into your inventory, you will wear it.

Multiplayer

This mod has been tested with in-game hosting. For the in-game host, the host will need to subscribe to this mod and add it to the Workshop section of the server settings (and make sure also in the Mods section).

We have not fully tested dedicated server play. For the dedicated server, we expect you must set the settings WorkshopItems=2893930681 and Mods=FurryMod (Build 41) or Mods=FurryModB42 (Build 42) and the clients will need to be subscribed to this mod.
