Bandits
During the zombie apocalypse, It's not the zombies you should be afraid of; it's the people...
This mod works for: B42 ONLY (B42.20+) both single and multiplayer.
This mod introduces hostile (NPC) bandits into the game. Enemies in this mod can be extremely dangerous, and provide a new set of challenges to those accustomed to the walking dead. Treat them as actual players when it comes to combat. Initial waves of NPC’s will be armed with melee weapons, and over time larger groups with firearms will begin to spawn.
Bandits, besides killing you, can steal items from your base, sabotage generators, vehicles or crops. They can destroy obstacles and furniture blocking their way, including doors and windows. There are friendly NPC’s but with the base mod, but they aren’t complex companions.
Bandits mod is also the base NPC mod for a number of different mods, including The Ark, Week One, and more.

Bandit Spawning - How does it work?
Initially, small groups of armed bandits with melee weapons will appear after 24 hours in the world around ~55 tiles away from the player. Over time, larger groups and ones more frequently with firearms will start to arrive to make your life hell. Always be prepared that bandits could strike when you least expect them.
Other groups act as wanderers. They will travel between important places on the map and their path may cross with player's.
Bandit Customization
General behaviour and loadouts of Bandits can be customized in the Custom Sandbox/Sandbox Settings, including changing the chances of bandits to spawn. For greater customization, including loadout, appearance, AI settings and more, use Bandit Creator.
Bandits can…
- Steal items from your base, sabotage your generators, vehicles or crops.
- Destroy things such as doors and furniture that block their path.
- Assigned additional traits which determine their skills.
- Customized in bandit creator to have custom loadouts.
- Resupply from corpses or containers.
- Use all weapons, including melee and firearms.
- They can know how to hunt you, and can track you to your location.
- Be spawned in using debug mode to test your creations.
Troubleshooting / Bugs / FAQ
There are no bandits
[olist] [*]Wait for at least 48 hours, avoid wilderness all the time. [*]Is Bandits installed correctly? For Single Player you just have to ensure that the mod is selected in your save. For Multiplayer Hosting, you need to make sure the Bandits mod (and also Bandit Creator if you want) is enabled in three distinct areas: The Mod Selection page for your server, the Mods tab and the Steam Workshop tab.
[*] Ensure there are no conflicting mods [*] If you have been using Bandit Creator, ensure each clan configuration is valid. Delete Zomboid/Lua/bandits folder and resub the mod to restore original bandits. [*] Ensure zombies are not disabled completely. [/olist]
There is too many bandits
Use Bandit Creator mod to tune the right amount for you.
They spawned inside my base
There is no way to easily check if the area is enclosed. So the spawn is purely distance based.
Can I spawn in bandits?
You can spawn in bandits by using debug both in single and multiplayer by right clicking and selecting the clan you wish to spawn. These bandits will not function as well as normal bandits that spawn in natively, but can be a good way to test out if the mod works.

Can I add this mod to an existing save?
Bandits can be added and removed without issue to any existing save, both single and multiplayer. Adding bandits to an old will make later and harder bandits spawn which may be a shock to you.
