Version 1.1.0-dev.20
Build tall wooden, military, security, razor-wire and wrought-iron fences, plus missing ornamental fences, pickets, sheet-metal panels and gates using vanilla Project Zomboid art. Choose sections, corners and standalone posts to suit your build, with a separate wrought-iron gate.
MP testing build - dedicated multiplayer NOT TESTED
Development build: This version is available for testing. Single-player and dedicated multiplayer validation are still pending. Use a disposable test world and back up existing saves.
Fence styles and skills
- Tall Wooden Straight Top - Carpentry 4
- Tall Wooden Sloped Top - Carpentry 7
- Security and Razor-Wire Security - Welding 4
- Military and Wrought Iron - Welding 7
Security and razor-wire sections use mixed concrete: one use for straight or post-ended sections, two for corners. A full metal or carved mixed-concrete bucket contains four uses.
Choose your fence parts
Each fence or gate family has one build-menu entry. New entries cover missing fence and gate artwork; existing vanilla recipes remain available. Vanilla low wooden fences and the wide wooden gate are excluded from the additions. Press E or the right controller bumper to cycle forward, and Q or the left bumper to cycle back through the family's available parts and orientations. Every part retains its own materials, tools and skill requirement. The selected part's requirements update as you cycle.
The separate Wrought Iron Gate offers west and north placement. Added gate styles include shared tall wood (both fence tops), white picket, ornamental iron and green field gates, with wide variants where vanilla assets exist. Use normal gate controls after construction. Existing vanilla wire, pole and wooden gate recipes are retained.
Sandbox settings
Separate automatic junction post settings for wrought iron, military, sloped-top wood and straight-top wood add vanilla-style posts when matching perpendicular sections of the same family meet. Security and razor-wire keep their existing manual corners. Included in the unchanged section cost. Enabled by default and controlled by the server. Disabling it stops new automatic posts; existing objects remain.
Construction Health Percent controls the health of newly built fence sections and corners. The default is 100%; multiplayer uses the server setting. Changing it leaves existing fences unchanged.
Additional fence styles
Ornamental iron, white and round-top pickets, post-and-wire, additional chain-link parts, sheet-metal panels and razor-wire coils. Parts retain their own recipes and skill requirements, shown during selection.
Known issues
A construction failure has been reported against the latest development build and remains unresolved. Dev.19 removed a source/offline cursor-copy defect; dev.20 corrects missing expansion-style icon bindings. Neither confirms that the reported construction failure or possible save issue is repaired.
Wide-gate operation and fence placement require in-game testing. Unavailable artwork is excluded.
Automatic junctions are created only during new construction. Existing fences are not retrofitted, and removing a section does not automatically remove its junction post. Native collision/save/multiplayer validation remains pending.
- Tall wooden fences may cut away prematurely.
- Standalone posts allow passage, but may overlap the player visually on the same tile.
- Collision, sounds, material consumption, save/reload and multiplayer synchronization still need in-game testing.
- Legacy fence definitions are retained; compatibility with existing saves is untested.
