Makes barricades fit the window or door they're nailed to. Vanilla uses the same four planks on every opening. With this mod the barricade covers the whole opening.

How it works

Barricade as normal. If the opening is bigger than the vanilla barricade, it takes more planks: tall house windows, church windows, diner and shop fronts, the full-glass panels next to store doors, and every door. Small windows get the normal four-plank barricade.

A tall house window takes six planks, a shop front nine, a door seven. The planks are spaced the same as vanilla. A tall opening takes two sheets of metal or two sets of bars instead of one. Keep picking Barricade and the planks fill the opening from the middle outward.

Removing a barricade gives you every plank, sheet or bar back. Each barricade is made of the game's own barricade objects, just more of them, so nothing new is written to your save.

What stays vanilla

  • Small windows, where four planks already cover the glass.
  • A few very large windows that span more than one wall tile: the double-height Seahorse panes, some police station and theatre fronts.
  • A wall where the window has been removed entirely and only the hole is left.

Balance

Every plank has the same health as a vanilla plank, and the same goes for sheets and bars. A nine-plank window costs eighteen nails instead of eight, and it's more than twice as tough as a four-plank one. Zombies have to break every plank to get in.

Planks break one at a time, like vanilla. Three planks or one metal sheet block sight, like vanilla.

Multiplayer

The extra planks are ordinary barricade objects, so they save and sync like any other. Works as far as I have tested, but I haven't tried a dedicated server. Let me know if something breaks.

Compatibility

  • Build 42 only. Works on 42.20 (stable) and 42.21 (unstable).
  • Adds new tiles, doesn't touch any vanilla files. Safe to add to an existing save. Barricades that are already up get refitted as the area loads, and you can add more planks to them.
  • Safe to remove. Every barricade stays up and works like the vanilla barricades it's made of.

The rest of the set

Same idea on different things: whatever goes over an opening should fit the opening. Each one works on its own, they don't overlap, and none of them touch a vanilla file.

Found a window that should get a fitted barricade but doesn't? Leave a comment.
