Functional Pallets
Stack it. Strap it. Store it.
Load bulk materials onto vanilla pallets. The load is drawn on the pallet and grows in stages as you add to it, and every pallet also works as a storage container. Built for Build 42 and runs on dedicated servers.
What you can stack
- Planks, logs, firewood and tree branches
- Metal, small metal, gold, silver and copper sheets
- Iron, steel, copper, brass, gold and silver ingots
- Stones, clay bricks and stone bricks
- Large stones (a 14-stone pyramid, stacked straight from your hands)
- Sand, gravel, dirt, clay, compost and grass bags, fertilizer, animal feed, plaster and concrete powder, empty sandbags
- Pipes, lead pipes, metal pipes and clay pipes
- Propane tanks (18), gas cans (9) and jerry cans (9); each can keeps its own fuel
- Paint cans (any colours mixed, up to 32)
How it works
- Right-click any vanilla pallet to stack, add or take items. You walk over and move them one at a time, and stopping part way keeps what you already moved.
- A pallet holds one kind of material at a time (paint colours can be mixed).
- Build a new pallet with the "Make Pallet" recipe: 4 planks and 4 nails, with a hammer.
- Metal barrels and drums standing in the world hold up to 800 L of liquid.
Open-top metal drums
Saw the lid off any metal drum or barrel (grey, orange, dark or light green; any metal saw, Metalworking menu) to get an open-top drum. Place it outside and it collects rain like the vanilla rain collector barrels, holding up to 800 L. Open-top drums already standing in the world collect rain too.
Optional: faster transfers
Off by default, so the game plays at vanilla speed. Two Sandbox Options on the "Functional Pallets" page turn them on:
- Faster Item Transfers (on/off, default off): every inventory transfer (loot panel, drag and drop, Transfer All, picking up and dropping) runs at about 5 items a second. Anything vanilla already does faster keeps its vanilla speed.
- Liquid Transfer Speed (1 to 10, default 1): pouring, filling and emptying liquids runs this many times faster. 1 = vanilla.
How to change the speed settings
Single player (new game) [olist] [*]Main menu > Solo > New Game, enable Functional Pallets in the mod list. [*]Choose Sandbox (or customise a preset) to open the sandbox settings. [*]Open the Functional Pallets page, tick Faster Item Transfers and/or raise Liquid Transfer Speed. [*]Start the game. [/olist] Sandbox settings are picked when a save is created. To change them on an existing save you need a sandbox-editing mod, or start a new save.
Hosted game (Host button) [olist] [*]Main menu > Host > Manage Settings, select your settings and edit them. [*]Go to Sandbox Options > Functional Pallets and set the options. [*]Save and start the server. [/olist]
Dedicated server [olist] [*]Stop the server. [*]Open Zomboid/Server/yourservername_SandboxVars.lua (servertest_SandboxVars.lua by default). The BulkPallets block is added after the server has run once with the mod. [*]Set the values and save: [/olist]
BulkPallets = {
FastTransfers = true,
FluidTransferSpeed = 4,
},
Then start the server again. Every player on the server gets the same speeds.
Multiplayer
Works on dedicated servers. The server applies every pallet change, so all players see the same loads.
