Overview :

Adds clear, customizable marks to books and other media, helping you identify unread, unfinished, and personally marked items at a glance. Confirmed to work with Build 41 and Build 42 Stable, including multiplayer.

Find what matters before you carry it home.

Vanilla shows what you have already finished. This mod highlights what you may still need, without checking every title or taking every unread book back to base. Built for faster, survival-focused looting, and designed to work alongside the vanilla indicators in Build 42.

Features :

 • Unread books and media display a "Not Read" mark (?).
 •
• This includes unread skill books that are no longer needed at the character's current skill level.

Partially read books display a "Not Completed" mark (!).
Completed items display their original icon by default. An optional "Already Read" mark (v) can also be enabled.
A blue "Current Target" dot (o) helps you spot valuable learning materials at a glance.

 • Skill books suited to your character's current skill level
 • CDs and VHS tapes that may provide experience or teach recipes

You can add an Item Mark to supported items from their context menu.

 • For example, use Item Marks to remember which books or media you already own.
 • Item Marks are tracked separately for each character.

Item Marks can also be applied automatically when supported items are moved into your inventory or a bag you are carrying.
Options :

 • Items for Status and Current Target Marks
 •
• Choose which item types can display Status and Current Target marks.
 • Skill Book, Recipe Magazine, Map, Flier, Brochure, Titled Literature, CD, VHS, and Home VHS
 • This setting does not affect Item Marks or auto-marking.

Show Status Marks

 • "Not Read" mark (?)
 • "Not Completed" mark (!)
 • "Already Read" mark (v)

Show "Current Target" mark (o)

 • Highlights skill books suited to your current skill level.
 • Also highlights CDs and VHS tapes that can provide experience or recipes.

Show Item Marks (/)

 • Display a pencil on items with an Item Mark.
 • Display an eraser on items without an Item Mark.
 • Turning both choices off also disables adding, removing, and automatically applying Item Marks.

Auto-Mark Items

 • Automatically applies an Item Mark when a supported item is moved into your inventory or a bag you are carrying.

Temporary Auto-Mark Toggle

 • Allows auto-marking to be temporarily paused or resumed from the context menu.
 • Disable this option to hide the context-menu entry and apply the "Auto-Mark Items" setting directly.
Known Issues :

 • In Build 42.20 multiplayer, vanilla does not retain the read status of map items after reconnecting. Maps may therefore appear unread after reconnecting.
 •
• If this bothers you, disable "Map" under "Items for Status and Current Target Marks."
 • This does not affect map areas that have already been revealed.

CDs, VHS tapes, and Home VHS currently support only the "Not Read" mark. Because a separate "Not Completed" state is unavailable, partially viewed media is treated as unread.
Future plans :

 • Maintenance, compatibility updates, and bug fixes as needed.

Remarks :

 • Modded books should also work as long as they follow the vanilla book implementation.
 • In Build 42, the read status of maps, fliers, brochures, and titled literature is taken from the vanilla per-character reading history. Items read before enabling this mod can therefore be recognized.
 • In Build 41, maps, fliers, brochures, and titled literature must still be read after enabling this mod before they can be recognized as read.
 • Read status and Item Marks are managed separately for each character.
 •
• Revealed map areas may be shared between characters in the same world, but whether the map item itself has been read remains character-specific.

You may include this mod in a mod pack without asking for permission or providing credit. Please use it at your own risk.
Release Notes :

 • v3.8 - Improved compatibility with CleanUI and more mod's books.
 • v3.7 - Improved compatibility with custom Recorded Media.
 • v3.6 - Improved item marking controls and option clarity.
 • v3.5 - Added support for Build 42.20.
 • v3.4 - Fixed minor bugs and improved performance.
 • Please refer to "Change Notes" for the older history.
