Shoot to Thrill 3.6.72 | 3D Aiming & Combat Expansion
Formerly known as I SEE THEM
"Sir! They're coming!" "Shoot to Thrill!" "Copy that. Playing the song!" "I meant shoot!"
Expands firearm handling, aiming, ballistics and hit detection in Viewpoint's 3D mode, reducing situations where you can see a target but cannot hit it.
Re-enable After Updating
The name and Mod IDs have changed. Re-enable the correct edition and check your save's mod list. Server administrators must update their configuration too.
- Single-player: ShootToThrill
- Multiplayer test version: ShootToThrillMultiplayer
- Do not enable both editions together.
- Keep your existing personal calibration files.
- Fully restart the game after updating. Servers must also restart.
Mod Compatibility
- GoM - Guns of Marz: Firearm, attachment and ammunition attributes; iron-sight calibration; reticles, magnification, brightness and illumination for supported optics.
- Modern Firearms System: Support for multiple firearms, iron sights and optics.
- Lethal Stealth and 3D Blood VFX for Viewpoint: Compatibility support included.
- Halflings: Children zombies: Hit detection adjustments for smaller zombies.
Some weapon models, custom characters, vehicles and mod combinations still require further adaptation.
Main Features
- Shooting controls: Original controls plus left-click hip fire/right-click ADS and tap/hold aiming modes. Raise your weapon while firing; ADS accuracy applies only when the sights are ready.
- Views and stances: First-person, third-person and over-the-shoulder aiming, temporary view switching, crouched shooting and optional collision-based weapon lowering.
- Weapon handling: Recoil, manual control, automatic recentering, breathing and movement sway, and breath holding. FOV support and customizable hotkeys adjust weapon distance and horizontal/vertical position, with local saves.
- Ballistics: Bullet travel time, drop, velocity loss and wind drift. Penetration and ricochets account for velocity, angle and material. Shotguns use configured pellet counts, spread and choke effects.
- Damage: Head, torso and limb hits for zombies and vanilla animals, normal/hardcore modes and large-caliber knockdown support.
- Weapon attributes: Firearms, ammunition and attachments contribute to muzzle velocity, recoil, penetration, power and ergonomics. GoM subsonic rounds and slugs receive separate handling.
- Optics: Variable magnification, reticle selection, brightness and illumination where supported. Applicable reticles scale with magnification.
- Scope rendering: Picture-in-picture, adjustable lens scene resolution and optimized rendering for supported 1x optics. Variable scopes retain your picture-in-picture choice at 1x. Viewpoint depth of field is disabled automatically.
- Hip-fire lens rendering: An optional setting, enabled by default, keeps the lens image active while hip-firing when the lens is in view. Applies only to adapted optical-path sights with lens-bound images; other sights are unchanged.
- Zeroing and HUD: Quick zeroing for supported optics, plus magnification, zeroing distance, wind direction and wind speed indicators.
- Hit feedback: Material impact effects and sounds, penetration/stopped-impact bullet holes, and hit, headshot, kill and killstreak feedback. Display and volume settings are adjustable; bullet holes persist with the world.
- Vehicle combat: Vehicle-part hits, related internal damage and first-person shooting for drivers and passengers. Vehicle movement affects spread.
Usage and Controls
Allow Java code loading. Supported firearms then work automatically, without installing an aiming component on each gun. The "invisible disabling attachment" disables the mod for an individual weapon.
- Right-click: aim, according to your selected control mode.
- Ctrl + V: Switch hip fire/ADS; also used for driver weapon-holding mode.
- Mouse wheel: Adjust variable magnification. Ctrl + wheel: Select maximum/minimum magnification.
- Page Up / Page Down: Adjust zeroing where quick zeroing is supported.
- Configure weapon-positioning and other hotkeys in Game Settings > Key Bindings. Some are unbound by default; existing profiles may retain older bindings.
HUD Options
- Magnification and zeroing appear when adjusted or when equipping a firearm, then fade out. Default duration: 3 seconds, adjustable.
- Wind indicators can be toggled independently or shown only while aiming.
- Move, resize or separate HUD elements to suit your layout.
- Red illumination can respond to nighttime, an active flashlight or manual activation. Each condition is independently selectable.
Single-player and Multiplayer
Single-player offers sight-origin or muzzle-origin firing.
Multiplayer uses sight-origin firing only. The server handles damage and hit synchronization and controls some rules; PVP retains vanilla behavior. The server and all players must use matching versions.
Multiplayer remains in testing. Not every single-player feature is available in multiplayer.
Optional Modules
On My Own: In-game iron-sight and optic calibration, positioning, previews and personal profiles. Keep existing calibration files. On My Own Workshop Page
Welcome to the Jungle: The throwing system is separate from the main mod.
Requirements
Project Zomboid Build 42.21, Viewpoint, ZombieBuddy and its Java loader.
Other mods that control shooting, animations or cameras may need compatibility work.
Thanks to the creators of Viewpoint and ZombieBuddy.
