Description
The Knox Event did not immediately bring about the end of civilization. Deep inside the exclusion zone, the remaining personnel are still fighting to keep essential infrastructure alive. Power stations and water systems continue to operate, but without proper resources and maintenance, failures are becoming inevitable.
Expect unexpected outages, temporary recoveries, and a slow decline of the systems that once kept the region alive.
Features
- Dynamic Water and Electricity Blackouts – By default, water and electricity can randomly shut off (1% chance every 10 minutes) and be restored (5% chance every 10 minutes).
- Sandbox Options – configure blackout behavior to your liking.
- Light Flickering – before a blackout occurs, lights will flicker (as shown in the video). Moved from Sandbox Options to Mod Options, allowing each player to configure the effect individually, including in multiplayer.
- Immersive Radio – automated emergency broadcast system from Knox Emergency Regional Infrastructure Service (KERS) on 89.2 MHz. The radio provides warnings about upcoming water and electricity shutoffs, current infrastructure status, emergency announcements, and occasional corrupted transmissions with static and survivor broadcasts.
- Shutoff Days Range – configure a random range for the day when water or electricity shutoffs can occur.
- Safe to add or remove anytime – fully compatible with existing saves, no risk of breaking progress.
- Multiplayer Support

For Modders
Immersive Blackouts exposes the following global variables: These variables are intended for state checks only. Modifying them may cause unexpected behavior.
- ImmersiveBlackouts_isWaterShut
- ImmersiveBlackouts_isBlackout
You can use them directly in your own Lua code to check the current shutdown state, for example:
print(ImmersiveBlackouts_isWaterShut)
print(ImmersiveBlackouts_isBlackout)
if ImmersiveBlackouts_isBlackout then
return
end
Debug/Server admins with Debug enabled
You can toggle events via context menu. (Will not work if the global shutdown has already occurred)
