🔥 This is a new mod that adds 10 katana variants and 10 wakizashi variants, along with their respective sheaths. All the code has been optimized for build 42.14, and new 3D models have been created for the sheaths and blades. If this type of mod is well received, I might add even more to the collection.

🔍 Find Legendary Katanas and Wakizashis! Find the sealed Legendary Daisho Case in police stations, military sites, antique stores and survivor houses: it holds a katana and a wakizashi with their sheaths. Loose blades can also drop from zombies, and you can find the magazine that allows you to craft them. These blades can be painted in 10 different colors: Grey, Green, Brown, Pink, Purple, Blue, Red, Orange, White and Black You can craft katana and wakizashi sheaths in 11 different colors

🛠️ Craft Your Own You can craft them yourself after finding the recipe in magazine, or unlock it automatically by leveling up your MetalWelding skill.

💪 Become Unstoppable! With these legendary Blades, survival has never been easier. Gear up and dominate the apocalypse!

⚔️ Blades

🟠Legendary Katana: The legendary katana has incredible durability and damage; it must be used with two hands.   🟠Legendary Wakizashi: The legendary wakizashi has slightly less durability and damage than the katana, but it can be used one-handed.

🎁 Legendary Daisho Case

🔸A daisho is the traditional samurai pair of a katana and a wakizashi. 🔸The sealed case holds a Legendary Katana and a Legendary Wakizashi with their hip sheaths, all of the same random color. No more blades without a sheath! 🔸Open it from the crafting menu (Legendaries category). The empty case stays as a legendary container (50 capacity and 99% weight reduction by default, configurable in the Sandbox options).

🎨 Paint the Blades

🔸The Legendary Blades can be painted in 10 different colors.   🔸Grey, Green, Brown, Pink, Purple, Blue, Red, Orange, White and Black.   🔸You’ll need to learn the blueprint for crafting the legendary Blades. 🔸Repainting keeps the blade's condition, sharpness and repair count, and blades can be painted back to Black.

🗡️ Blades Sheath

🔸You can craft a wooden blade sheath (wooden sheaths no longer spawn as loot).

🎨 Paint the Sheaths

🔸You can paint the wooden sheaths in 10 different colors.   🔸Grey, Green, Brown, Pink, Purple, Blue, Red, Orange, White and Black.

⚙️ Customization via Sandbox

🔸Blade durability and breaking chance are configurable via Sandbox settings. 🔸Min/max damage, hit arc (degrees) and max targets per swing are individually configurable for the Katana and Wakizashi. 🔸Daisho Case capacity and weight reduction are configurable via Sandbox settings. 🔸Spawn levels from 0 to 10 (0 = never, 1 = very hard, 5 = default, 10 = 3 times the default) for: Katana (Zombies), Wakizashi (Zombies), Daisho Case (Common: houses, garages, etc.), Daisho Case (Rare: police, military, antiques, etc.) and Magazine.

🛠️Recipes and Crafting

🔸You can find a magazine that teaches the art of forging each of the blades.   🔸Research Craft Option

🔧Repair and sharpening

🔸Repair: a blowtorch plus sheet metal or scrap metal (Maintenance 1, Metalworking 2). It uses the vanilla repair system: sheet metal repairs more, and each repair is a bit less effective than the last.   🔸Sharpen: a whetstone, like any vanilla blade.

💥 When the blade breaks

🔸When a Legendary Katana or Wakizashi breaks, it does not disappear — it leaves behind legendary components. 🔸50% chance: You recover both a Legendary Blade and a Legendary Handle. The handle always goes to your inventory; the blade may stick into a zombie or drop to the ground. 🔸50% chance: You only recover the Legendary Handle, which goes directly to your inventory. 🔸Both components can be used to forge a new Legendary Blade.

❓ FAQ

Can I add this mod to an already started save? Yes. It only adds new items and loot entries, so it's safe to add mid-save. New loot only spawns in areas the game hasn't generated/loaded yet, so you may need to explore new zones to start finding blades. If you update from an older version, your blades and sheaths stay as they are. The spawn options have new names, so they start at the default level 5: set them again if you had customized them. To learn the new paint-to-black recipes, read the magazine again.

Can I dual-wield two Wakizashis? No, that's not supported — Wakizashi is one-handed, but only one can be equipped in your main hand at a time.

How does the rarity/probability sandbox value actually work? Katana, Wakizashi, Daisho Case and Magazine spawns use levels from 0 to 10. Level 5 is the default and 0 disables spawning entirely. All levels follow one smooth curve: level 1 is about 13 times rarer than 5, level 4 is about 30% less likely, and level 10 is 3 times the default, so the loot never floods a container. The chance is still relative to the other loot that can spawn in the same container, so it is not a fixed percentage.

Why are there no loose katanas in containers anymore? Containers now spawn the sealed Daisho Case instead, so you always get the blades with their sheaths. Spawn chances have been rebalanced for the new loot. Loose katanas and wakizashis still drop from zombies.
