⚔️Naginatas

  🟠Legendary Naginata: the most powerful in damage and durability, with a legendary spear head.

🗺️ Where to find them

  🔸Each color spawns in places that fit it: grey, black and blue in police stations, green in army sites, red in fire stations, white in hospitals, orange in hunting places and gun stores, brown, pink and purple in antique stores.   🔸Survivor houses can have one, and zombies can carry them too.   🔸The wooden Naginata is forge-only.

🎨 Paint the Naginatas

  🔸The wooden Naginata can be painted in 10 different colors.   🔸Grey, Green, Brown, Pink, Purple, Blue, Red, Orange, White and Black.   🔸You'll need to learn the blueprint from the magazine.

⚙️ Customization via Sandbox

  🔸Durability, breaking chance and spear head durability (10 to 100) of the Naginatas.   🔸Spawn levels from 0 to 10 (0 = never, 1 = extremely rare, 5 = default, 10 = 3 times the default) for:     Naginata (Common: garages, workshops), Naginata (Rare: police, military, hunting, survivor houses, etc.), Naginata (Zombies) and Magazine.

  🔸Find the magazine that teaches the art of forging the Naginata, or unlock it at MetalWelding level 7.   🔸Research Craft Option in the Naginatas.

🔧Repair and sharpening

  🔸Repair: a blowtorch plus sheet metal or scrap metal (Maintenance 1, Metalworking 2), or the vanilla duct tape, glue and epoxy repairs, like any spear.   🔸Sharpen: a whetstone, like any vanilla blade.

❓ FAQ

▶ Can I add this mod to an already started save? Yes, you can use it mid-game without any problems. Keep in mind that new loot will only appear in areas you haven't explored yet.

▶ Does it work on the current stable build (42.21)? Yes, confirmed working on 42.21 stable, both singleplayer and multiplayer.

▶ Is the Naginata one-handed or two-handed? It's a two-handed weapon.

▶ How do I repair my Naginata? With a Blowtorch (2 charges) plus 1 Sheet Metal or 3 Scrap Metal, at MetalWelding 2 and Maintenance 1. It uses the vanilla repair system: sheet metal repairs more than scrap metal, and each repair is a bit less effective than the last. Duct tape, glue and epoxy also work, like on vanilla spears.

▶ The spear head breaks too fast. Can I change it? Since v.3.1.0 the spear head is legendary too (100, like the Legendary Tactical Spear). You can set it from 10 to 100 in the Sandbox options. Naginatas that already exist keep the value they were created with.

▶ I have a whetstone but the game only lets me repair, not sharpen. Is this a bug? No, this is how Build 42's condition/sharpness system works: your weapon's maximum achievable sharpness is capped by its current condition. If the condition is too low, repair the weapon first, then sharpening with the whetstone will work normally again.

▶ How do the spawn options work? Naginata and Magazine spawns use levels from 0 to 10. Level 5 is the default and 0 disables spawning entirely. Each place gives one naginata, shared among the colors that fit there. The vanilla melee weapon rarity setting also affects them. If you update from an older version, the spawn options have new names, so they start at the default level 5: set them again if you had customized them.

▶ Is it compatible with your other Legendary mods (Backpack, DuffelBag, Satchel, Cap, etc.)? Yes, all Legendary mods are designed to work together safely.

🔄Updates

🔹[v.3.1.0] Fixed repairs: the old repair system showed the materials as 0/1 in Build 42, and duct tape repair didn't work because of a typo. Repairs now use the vanilla system (Maintenance 1, Metalworking 2, 2 blowtorch charges). The spear head is now legendary (100) and configurable in the Sandbox options. The forge recipe now unlocks at MetalWelding 7. Loot unified with the other Legendary mods: the 10 colors spawn in themed places (orange in hunting places), the wooden one is forge-only, new spawn levels from 0 to 10 — set them again if you had customized the old values — and naginatas now really spawn in survivor houses and on zombies. 🔹Previous versions
