Timber

A Woodcutting skill for Build 42. It continues Woodcutting Skill [B42] by Wyr3d and Champy, which stopped giving XP after 42.17 and hasn't been updated since March.

Build 42.21 and up. Works in single player and multiplayer, needed on both server and clients.

Timber uses the same skill, trait, books and sandbox setting as the original, so your characters keep their Woodcutting level. Turn off the original and Woodcutting Skill 42 Sandbox Fix before you turn on Timber.

What it does

• Woodcutting skill, under Survivalist. You get XP for chopping and felling trees, clearing bushes and removing stumps.
• Every level adds 2 tree damage per hit, uses 5% less endurance (down to 25%) and burns fewer calories. Axeman counts as one extra level.
• Bushes come down faster with every level.
• Removing a stump also drops a log. You can turn this off in sandbox.
• Woodcutter trait (+1 Woodcutting). Lumberjack gets +3, Park Ranger +2, Farmer and Rancher +1.
• Five Woodcutting skill books in bookstores, libraries, schools, camping and hunting spots.

Fixed from the original

• No XP since 42.17, and none at all in multiplayer.
• Errors when the global XP multiplier was off. The sandbox fix mod is built in now.
• The axe bonus lowered the axe's own tree damage after every chop, so higher levels could chop worse.
• No skill bonus in multiplayer.
• It replaced whole game files from 42.15, so chopping, bush cutting and stump removal lost the 42.21 changes and threw errors. Timber hooks into the game's actions instead.
• Lumberjack, Park Ranger, Farmer and Rancher lost their 42.21 skills and traits.
• Skill books gave no bonus on dedicated servers.
• Translations didn't load on 42.20 and later.

Woodcutting tapes

Turn on Timber: Woodcutting Tapes for the six Woodland Management VHS episodes from Wyr3d's [WYD] VHS Skill Tapes: Woodcutting. That mod needs the old Woodcutting Skill mod and won't load with Timber, so use this one instead. The tapes give Woodcutting XP in multiplayer too, and you don't need the Missing Codes mod for them.

Sandbox options

On the Timber page:

• Woodcutting XP multiplier, used when the global XP multiplier is off.
• Level 10 keeps endurance above 25%. This is the old Superpower version, off by default.
• Stumps drop a log.
