Build 42.20 "doord inside car" bug
As of 42.20 there is a bug with how the game handles running vehicles offscreen. Basically if you leave the engine running and move avay from the vehicle - when you return, animation data for the vehicle would get messed up - the newly added code does not bother to reinitialize animations skeleton, since base game vehicles aren't animated. Entering RV interior also counts as moving far enough away from the vehicle to trigger this bug when you exit the interior space. The bug is purely cosmetic. From the dame state perspective doors can be opened and cloased properly, but the game loses the capacity to properly show their state. To avoid the bug - follow a good discipline of stopping the engine before exiting the vehicle. ALternatively - use this mod. Though keep in mind it need ZombieBuddy as a dependency because the bug is java - level.
!!! ATTENTION !!!
Since build 41 is now moved into a legacy branch rather than being the default version, I am planning to remove Build 41 support from this workshop item. If you are planning to play build 41 and not lose access to the mod, please use Build 41 legacy fork of the mod instead of this one.
(VVA) Vanilla Vehicles Animated
What this mod does?
There are many cool mods that add vehicles with openable doors, meaning the game can handle such animations. But vanilla vehicles remain as solid bricks. This mod fixes that. Vehicle models are reworked - split into multiple objects, and code added to display vanilla vehicles. As a free bonus of it - if a part is removed (or torn off) it would become visually missing, rather than tinted grey.
Why are Dash Roamer, Drive90s and other modded cars no longer animated?
Trying to keep the mod more focused so since they are not based on vanilla models and not all of them were transitioned to build 42 - that created a bunch of issues making sure stuff got updated correctly. So I made a hard decision to drop them from this mod. I am repackaging all the animated model patches for those vehicles and will publish them as a couple of separate workshop items - for build 41 and 42 separately. But at this moment they are just remived as a hotfix to them getting broken by latest code rafactoring.
B41 or B42?
Both. for now, but in near future I am planning to make this mod 42 only. Please see special notice at the top of description for a link to 41 legacy fork.
Multiplayer?
By itself only the local player would see animations in action. Remote players would only ubdate parts state when they moved far enough from vehicle and then returned to it so server sends current state for all parts. To fix this issue you need to use a mod that patches in server signals to update parts state when they change For build 42 use https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3685499657 For build 41 use https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2959512313
Existing save - safe?
Yes. This mod only changes the way vehicles are displayed and does not interfere with save data in any way. It is safe to add or remove this mod on existing saves/servers.
There are many mods in this item. Which ones I should enable?
Vanilla Vehicles Animated
- Main mod. Nothing works without it.
disable passenger rendering (VVA_cullseats)
- (optional) - The main mod enables rendering character model in the interior. But animations for characters switching seats, exiting vehicle or aiming a weapon if a window is rolled down, are not set up, so defailts ones (for character standing on ground) are used, resulting in character clipping through vehicle roof. If this bothers you - enable this mod. It will prohibit my mod adding passenger rendering. But if some other mod also enables interior character rendering it might not work.
Standard Vehicle Upgrades Patch (VanillaVehiclesAnimated_SVU)
- (optional) - If you wand to MadMax your vehicles using armor from Standard Vehicle Upgrades, by default the armor would be rendered static. So an open door would clip through armor plate. Enabling this optional mod patches armor definition scripts to make armor animated too.
ApocalypticallySlowDoors (VVA_slowdoors)
- depricated - In Build 41 version using Fancy Handwork together with this mod could cause a bug with door close animation being unable to play properly because it was running too fast. This mod slowed all animations down to avoid this bug.
Pikamy's Delighter
- depricated - Build 42 specific. A little mod created for Pickamy_ (follow her on Twitch!). Changes models and textures for seats of Lady Delighter specialty van to be pink with some embroidery.
Snappy Doors
Removes animated transitions between opened and closed states so doors/hoods/trunks snap open/closed. Requested for consistency with how building doors are not actually animated in B41, or mods that synchronize animations between different clients actually just synchronize end states.
Just Vanilla Vehicles?
No. Some mods that add reskins of vehicles based on vanilla models (i.e. Donny's Company Cars) are also supported. And if you know such a mod that is not supported - please let me know and I would gladly cover it in an update. Also Vanilla Vehicle Enhancer (both 41 and 42 versions) are supported, including custom models for all vehicles that match enhanced textures with geometry.
Can a vanilla-model based vehicle mod hook into animations without requiring update to this mod?
