WakeWorld - Loading Screen & Music
Your own pictures and your own song on the world-loading screen. Build 42, single player and multiplayer.
What it does
- The black loading screen gets your pictures: each one fills the screen, pans slowly from one end to the other, then fades into the next. The game's walking figure and tips stay on top.
- A song plays quietly while the world loads - on the game's own sound engine, which runs on its own thread, so it doesn't stutter when the game freezes for a moment. It fades in, loops, and fades out when you're in.
- Comes with one example picture and no song, so you see where things go. Add your own and the example steps aside.
Requirements
- ZombieBuddy - on every player's game (it loads this mod's Java part).
Add your own pictures and song
The easy way - your own small add-on mod (keeps working when this mod updates): [olist] [*]Make a folder Zomboid\Workshop\MyLoadingScreen\Contents\mods\MyLoadingScreen [*]Inside it, a 42 folder with a mod.info file:
name=My Loading Screen
id=MyLoadingScreen
require=\WakeWorldLoadingScreen
versionMin=42.0
[*]Pictures: put .png files in common\media\ui\loadingscreen inside your mod folder. Give them unique names (myserver_1.png, myserver_2.png...). [*]Song: put an .ogg, .mp3 or .wav in common\media\sound\loadingscreen. More than one? A different one each time. [*]Enable both mods (server: add both to Mods= and WorkshopItems=). Upload your add-on from the game's Workshop menu, unlisted if it's just for your server. [/olist] Quick way for single player: drop the files straight into this mod's own folders of the same names. They'll be replaced if this mod updates.
Picture tips
- Wide pictures look best: they pan from one end to the other. 3:1 (like 2400 x 800) gives a slow sweep; 16:9 barely moves.
- The picture always fills the screen top to bottom, cropped on the sides - never stretched.
- Keep big text away from the bottom-left (the tips) and bottom-right (the walking figure).
Settings
Copy settings.txt from this mod (media/ui/loadingscreen) into your add-on and change it. Every line is optional:
- volume - 0 to 100, a share of the game's main sound volume (default 20 - quiet)
- music - on / off
- seconds - how long each picture takes to pan across (default 30)
- fade - seconds the next picture takes to fade in (default 2.5)
- darken - 0 to 100, a dark veil so the tips stay readable (default 30)
- shuffle - start on a random picture and song: true / false
- progress - a thin loading bar along the very top, on / off (the game keeps no real percentage, so it learns how long your loads take)
Good to know
- Only use pictures and music you have the right to share - anything in your add-on is uploaded with it.
- It shows on the screen while the world loads (after you pick a save or join a server), not on the main menu.
- Nothing loads? Check that ZombieBuddy is enabled, and look in console.txt for lines starting with [LoadingScreen].
Made for the WakeWorld server.
