THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE OTHERS CUTES RAILS BLOCKS BUT MORE A CRASH TEST;
Idea is to do train wheels and follow as possible realistic behaviour and design.
As the game logic have it's own way to for friction and movement, this mod could never works so if you want cute rails, others mods will be far better
LAST CHANGES :
- ADDED A BLUEPRINT FOR THE BOGIE SO YOU GET A SAMPLE OF SETTINGS (LOOK FOR STARMIND / BOGIE)
- ADDED A BLUEPRINT CALLED RAILWAY
- ADDED CURVED RAILS 1 FOR 90 LEFT TURN + 1 CURVED JUNCTION, ITS UGLY WITH ANGLES BUT IT'S THE WORKAROUND FOR NO CONCAVE SUPPORT
- ADDED 2 RAILS TO GO UP / DOWN.
SAID THAT HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE :
1 rail block 1x1 but use it only if no other way (will know / glue if you add too many small blocks, use rather the 10x or bigger)
1 RAIL BLOCK 10X2
2 RAIL BLOCK 10X CURVED RIGHT / LEFT
1 RAIL BLOCK 1X1 FOR RIGHT / LEFT JUNCTION
2 RAIL BLOCK 10X CURVED DOWN / DOWN -> REVERSE FOR UP UP
1 BOGIE
2 WHEEL
2 suspensions Inside bogie / normal : you should add both propulsion and stabilizer to keep the train on rails (so end up with 4 suspensions by bogie)
others blocks are for tests.
CURRENT BLOCKS STATUS :
1 rail block 1x1 : outdated
1 rail block 1x2 : removed angled rails top as too many frictions issues
1 bogie : not usable and test , need extra design
1 wheel (normal): usable, its a 2 wheels and bar block, the gard part is disabled by now as a new block will be tested 1 wheel (gard) : not yet finished, will be reworked to be a guard part only (to stick on rails)
2 suspensions : 1 for propulsion 1 for stabalizing (not yet done)
Current tests :
with a wheel block you have a big part that have friction and make train moving, this is fine in SE. But both weight, inclined top rails guard part of the wheel and others things keep in on rails in real life.
1 Obviously the small guard part have an angle, and as soon it have contact with rail it stuck the train like a landing gear. 2 No movement seems to be applied on this guard axis
I start to beleive that the wheels movement is read on a small contact area (so people use sphere collider) and only 1 axis so anything on a second axis like the guard part will generate friction.
I am seeking for a way to totaly remove bouncing and friction from blender or sbc to make it still on 1 wheel.
Note : real train wheels have lots of curves and top of rails tool (i am noob but use google)
the colliders use convex hull (not best results with sphere as the gard part will not be reconnized and wore with doubles wheels)
>>> tests done with long rails, ***** go around 50m/s without issue on straight line, but at some point it's needed to use Hinges to align with ground again on new blocks
