HOW TO HITCH YOUR ELK

Once you've crafted your Rope Hitch using 3 Flax Fibers Vertically in the left side of your crafting table, simple right-click your elk and then right click a fence post. Boom, your elk isn't going anywhere.

WHY ELK HITCH FUNCTIONS DIFFERENTLY FROM VANILLA

Elk Hitch was specifically designed to solve a common frustration with vanilla elk tethering in <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Vintage Story</span></span>.

In vanilla gameplay, elk can still wander, shift position, or eventually break their lead depending on terrain, pathing, and movement behavior. This becomes especially frustrating during:

• Long expeditions
• Campsite setup
• Trading trips
• Base organization
• Multiplayer server use

Elk Hitch changes this behavior by creating a true anchored hitch point.

Once attached, elk remain planted in place instead of constantly attempting to roam or reposition themselves. The mod also bypasses several vanilla tethering limitations and generation rules that can cause leads to detach unexpectedly or behave inconsistently.
