Hoarder's Forge: Recycle and Reclaim
JBy JimmyJTC
Melt old tools and scrap in the crucible to reclaim metal.

Description
Hoarder's Forge: Recycle and Reclaim
A Vintage Story utility mod that allows you to recycle old, worn-out tools, broken tool heads, arrowheads, metal chutes, and leftover metal scraps by melting them back in the crucible to reclaim their metal value.
Features
- Crucible Recycling: Toss damaged tools, worn toolheads, arrowheads, chutes, brackets, and padlocks directly into the crucible to melt them back into liquid metal.
- Durability-Based Yield: Reclaimed metal dynamically scales based on the item's remaining durability, returning less metal for worn-out items and preventing exploits.
- Exploit-Free Voxel Math: Integrates with the SmithingPlus mod to dynamically calculate yields based on the voxel recipe (proportional to a 100u ingot). All calculations round down to the nearest multiple of 5 units to mathematically eliminate metal duplication exploits.
- Vanilla Fallback: Fully functional in vanilla Vintage Story, utilizing a robust fallback yield table (100u for basic tools, 200u for large blades/plates, and 10u for arrowheads).
- Fully Configurable: Easily adjust the recycling loss percentage and toggle debug logging in-game or via config file.
Commands & Configuration
The mod can be configured in-game via a configuration dialog or directly via chat commands:
Chat Commands
- /hoardersforge gui: Opens the config GUI dialog (requires controlserver privilege).
- /hoardersforge test: Runs client/server integration tests to verify voxel values and melting calculations.
Keybindings
- Config GUI Hotkey: Unbound by default. You can assign a custom keybind in the game controls settings under the name "Open Hoarder's Forge Config GUI".
Configuration Settings
Saved in ModConfig/HoardersForgeConfig.json:
- LossPercentage (default: 0.0): The percentage of metal lost during recycling. A value of 0.0 yields 100% reclaim.
- DebugLogging (default: false): Enables verbose logging of voxel calculations and melting results in the game log.
Inspiration & Credits
- Inspiration: This mod was inspired by MightyGooga's excellent mightysmeltables, and also Re-Smeltables mods by octeris, which pioneered the concept of melting down tools and metal items.
- Special Thanks: Massive thanks to MIghtyGooga for providing valuable ideas, feedback, and help during the validation of the melting mechanics and mathematical balance of this mod!
