Messenger Pigeons - Make Your Mail Immersive~

Description

Messenger Pigeons introduces a reliable and immersive mail system to Vintage Story. Players can construct Pigeon Boxes, register them to a global directory, and send written messages to friends across the world.

How It Works

• Place a Mailbox: Place down a Messenger Pigeon Mailbox to become its primary owner. The mailbox will face what ever direction you are facing.
• Register the Mailbox: USe the "Register" tab to register a unique name for your box. Once you register a global name, other players can find it in their directory.
• Add Co-Owners: USe the "Owners" tab to add or remove co-owners who can also access the box. Co-owners may add or remove other co-owners, but the primary owner can never be removed.
• Send a Message: Simply hold a written parchment or envelopes, select a destination from the GUI interface, and dispatch your pigeon. You must have the parchment or envelope selected in your hotbar!
• Leave a Message: A non-owner may leave drop a message off in a mailbox by right-clicking it while holding a parchment or envelope in your hotbar.
• Check the Inbox: When a mailbox you are an owner of receives a delivery, you will be notified in-game. Received items can be taken from the inbox.

Key Features

• Distance Based Delivery: Pigeons take actual in-game time to deliver letters. Flight speed and minimum travel times can be adjusted in the mod configuration file.

• Secure Ownership: The player who places the box is the permanent, primary owner. You can add or remove co-owners to share a mailbox with others, while non-owners can only drop off mail.

• Global Registry and Favorites: The interface includes a searchable directory of all registered boxes. You can save frequent contacts to a favorites list that is unique to each physical mailbox you own.

• Item Restrictions: Pigeons can only carry parchment and envelopes. Parcels can be sent if allowed in the configuration file.

• Automatic Mail Recovery: If a mailbox is full when a pigeon arrives, the mail will drop nearby. The box will automatically vacuum up the dropped letters as soon as inventory space is cleared.

• Admin Protections: Server administrators in creative mode can bypass ownership restrictions to rename, manage, or remove abandoned boxes.

Compatability

This mod is compatable with the Envelopes mod: https://mods.vintagestory.at/envelopes. This includes wax-sealed envelopes as well! However, parcels are <span style="color: #000000;">not</span> able to be sent.

Configuration

This mod allows your to change the following in your configuration file:

• Blocks Per Game Hour: Defaulted to 1000.0 (blocks), and corresponds to how many blocks a pigeon will travel per one in-game hour.
• Minimum Tavel Hours: Defaulted to 0.1 (in-game hours), and corresponds to the minimum number of hours a pigeon will take to deliver a message to a box, no matter how close.

• Enable Arrival Notifications: Defaulted to 'true', and lets you control whether box owners are notified of a mail delivery in-game or not.
• Allow Sending Parcels: Defaulted to "false", and lets you control whether players can send Parcels (from the Envelopes mod) using the Pigeon Box or not.
