Description
Pemmican!
Just pemmican. No tofu, no algae, no OJ, no straw!
Preserve meat the old way: dry it into jerky, smash the jerky to dust, cook the dust with fat into pemmican. Trail food that keeps for months.
Make jerky, two ways:
- Smoke it. Fit a smoking rack onto an empty firepit, hang your meat, add firewood, and spark it. Be patient. This ain't your highfalutin smokehouse of cut cobble and planed boards.
- Dry it. No wood to spare? Stand a drying rack in warm, dry air and let the weather do the work, slow and free. Rain sets you back, humidity rots it first.
Then:
- Smash jerky with a rock in the crafting grid to make jerky dust.
- Cook 1 to 3 dust with rendered fat in a pot to make pemmican. Add salt for longer shelf life.
- Seal it in a crock to keep for the long haul.
Plays nice with
Butchering. Adds primemeat jerky and powder, and grinds Butchering's smoked meats into jerky powder too.
Expanded Foods. Dried fruit can go into pemmican, and the drying rack will dry fresh fruit into dried fruit.
Primitive Survival. Grind 4 of its jerky into jerky powder.
Sonya's Meat Mod. Dry Sonya's meat into jerky.
