PalLevelScaling

Make every region worth exploring again.

PalLevelScaling dynamically adjusts standard wild Pal spawn levels around nearby players, keeping older areas challenging without permanently changing the world.

Why Use It?

 • Keeps low-level zones relevant — Lower-level wild Pals can scale up toward nearby players.
 • Prevents extreme mismatches — Higher-level wild Pals can be brought down toward nearby players when configured.
 • No permanent zone changes — Each spawn is calculated independently.
 • Server-side only — Clients do not need to install the mod.
 • Highly configurable — Choose how players are selected, how levels are offset, and which scaling directions are allowed.

Default Experience

The included configuration is tuned for a progression-friendly setup:

 • Selects the player nearest to the Pal's intended spawn location
 • Allows spawns from 2 levels below to 2 levels above the selected player
 • Uses Up Only scaling
 • Never lowers a naturally stronger spawn
 • Limits newly calculated wild Pal levels to 100
Example: A level 80 player enters a level 20 area. New wild Pals may scale toward level 80. When that player leaves, future spawns are recalculated using the players who are currently nearby. The area itself is never permanently changed.

Scaling Modes

 • Up Only — Lower-level spawns may increase toward the selected player's level. Higher-level spawns are not reduced.
 • Down Only — Higher-level spawns may decrease toward the selected player's level. Lower-level spawns are not increased.
 • Both — Spawns may increase or decrease toward the selected player's level.

Player Selection Modes

Choose how nearby player levels are evaluated:

 • Nearest to the actual spawn location
 • Nearest to the spawner center
 • Lowest nearby player
 • Highest nearby player
 • Average nearby level
 • Median nearby level
 • Random nearby player

How It Works

When Palworld requests a level for a new wild Pal, the mod:

[olist]
Reads the original level selected by Palworld
Finds eligible nearby human players
Selects one using your configured mode
Calculates the final level
Applies that result to the current spawn only [/olist]

Existing Pals are not continuously rescaled.

A previously scaled Pal keeps the level it spawned with until it is captured, killed, removed, or naturally despawned.

Configuration Highlights

 • Levels above and below the selected player
 • Maximum wild Pal level
 • Scaling direction
 • Player-selection mode
 • Spawn and despawn distances
 • Player-detection buffer
 • Optional five-minute config reload

Logging and Administration

 • Timestamped CSV decision logs
 • Original, calculated, and final levels
 • Selected player information
 • Spawner details and coordinates
 • Automatic retention of the newest five CSV files
 • Configuration changes can apply to future spawns without restarting the server

Installation

Requires UE4SS on the dedicated server.

Install the mod under:

PalServer/Pal/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/PalLevelScaling/
Confirm that
enabled.txt
PalLevelScaling/Scripts/config.lua
Clients do not need the mod installed.
Compatibility and Scope
PalLevelScaling modifies runtime spawn-level decisions instead of permanently editing map assets or spawn tables.

It is intended for standard wild Pal spawners that use Palworld's shared NPC-spawner level path.

Some scripted or fixed-level systems may use different spawn logic and are not guaranteed to be affected, including certain:

Wandering merchants and guards

Enemy-camp humans

Wanted police

Invasion NPCs

Meteor and supply-drop NPCs

Other special-event characters
This mod does not raise the player or owned-Pal progression level cap.

Support
When reporting an issue, include:

Your
config.lua

The latest PalLevelScaling CSV file
Your UE4SS log
Your Palworld and UE4SS versions
A list of other gameplay mods installed on the server

Keep progression meaningful. Keep older regions exciting. Let every new spawn meet the players who found it.
