Pal Loot Drops

Pals leave gear behind. Kill one, or catch one, and it can drop a weapon or a piece of armour — and the stronger the pal, the better the gear.

A Lamball is worth a club and a cloth cap. A Jetragon is worth a rocket launcher.

The loot table is your game's, not mine

Nothing here is a hard-coded item list. At startup the mod reads the running build's own item data and builds two lists, each sorted from worst to best: weapons by attack value, armour by defence, HP and shield value. Every gun and every chestplate your install actually has is in there — including anything added by a game update, or by another mod you have installed.

Tools are deliberately left out. Palworld files pickaxes, grappling guns, metal detectors and fishing rods under "weapon" too, and nobody wants a boss to drop a fishing rod.

Stronger pal, better loot

Every pal gets a power score from its rarity, its level and its flags — alpha, legendary, tower boss, raid boss, lucky (shiny). That score decides which part of the sorted list it rolls from, taken from a band rather than a single slot, so the same species is not always worth the exact same item. A level 4 Cattiva can never roll the best gun in the game.

How often

  • 5% base chance on a kill, and on a catch
  • +2.5% per rarity point, +0.2% per level — a rarity 9 pal at
  • level 50 lands near 35%
  • +25% for a lucky (shiny) pal
  • Alphas — at least 60%
  • Legendaries, tower bosses, raid bosses — always

When a drop is won, roughly a third of the time it comes out as armour instead of a weapon. High-tier pals can roll extra pieces on top; a Lamball effectively never doubles up.

Human enemies — raiders, poachers, syndicate — drop gear too.

Singleplayer and dedicated servers

Same files either way. On a dedicated server the mod only goes on the server: players connect with a completely stock client and still get the drops. The item is added to the real server-side inventory and replicates down like any other pickup, with the normal "item obtained" notification.

The mod never acts on a machine that does not own the inventory it is writing to, so a client that also has it installed never hands out a second copy.

Tuning

Everything is a number in Scripts/config.lua, with a comment explaining what it does: the chances, the floors, how the power score is weighted, which item types count as a weapon or as armour, how wide the pick band is, and the weapon/armour split. Want armour only, or weapons only, or drops from catching but not from killing? One line each.

Honest about what it does

The item goes straight into your inventory rather than falling on the ground. Spawning a physical world drop needs a call into the engine that has crashed this game before, so the mod does not make it.

Ammo is off by default. Palworld records which bullet belongs to which gun in the weapon's blueprint, which this mod cannot read, so switching AmmoWithWeapons on gives you the best bullet the weapon's rank can justify — a good guess, not a correct answer. You can end up holding a shotgun and a box of handgun rounds.

After startup the mod does no recurring work at all. It listens for kills and catches and is otherwise idle. Everything it does is logged under [PalLootDrops] in Palworld\Mods\NativeMods\UE4SS\UE4SS.log, including the loot tables it built and every drop it handed out.

The mod writes no files of its own.

Requires UE4SS.
