Sensible Medics - Medics Make Medicine

Your clinic has a capable medic. Your medicine bench has a queued recipe. Let the medic connect those two facts.

From clinic duty to useful production

A medicine-capable Pal assigned to a Clinic or Ancient Clinic can temporarily take an unattended medicine job in the same base, then return to clinic duty when that job ends.

  • Assign a suitable Pal to your clinic as usual.
  • Queue medicine at an otherwise unattended medicine workbench in the same base.
  • An awake, available and eligible medic can go to the bench and craft it.
  • When the recipe finishes or is cancelled, the medic returns to clinic duty.

The clinic's native illness and sanity support is retained while its medic is on this mod-managed production assignment. The game handles movement, crafting, ingredient use, power and work suitability. The mod does not choose recipes, create items, speed up crafting or teleport workers. Native pathfinding can still reject an inaccessible bench.

Works with your assignments

Supports the Medieval, Electric and Advanced Medicine Workbenches. Occupied benches are left alone. A manual reassignment takes precedence over the mod's temporary assignment. A persistently unworkable or stalled job triggers a return attempt.

The electric medicine bench was confirmed in ordinary gameplay: the medic departed, produced a queued High Grade Medical Supplies recipe and returned. Other supported bench types and normal transport of the finished medicine have not been separately confirmed in that gameplay test. Transport, storage filters and medicine consumption remain under the game's normal systems.

Requirements and compatibility

Tested in Windows Steam local single-player on Palworld 1.0.5, build 25246127, with Palworld UE4SS 2281fa31. PalSchema is not required. The native helper checks the supported game executable before enabling; a game update may require a mod update.

Online co-op, dedicated servers, Game Pass and Linux/Proton have not been validated. Assignment changes require local authority. Do not hot-reload during play.

Recovery, updates and removal

The mod writes loan_journal.txt in its own mod folder before sending a medic out. Keep that file across updates: it lets the mod recover recorded assignments after a reload. Back up it and any custom Scripts/config.lua settings before changing installation methods or updating Workshop files.

Before removing the mod, finish or cancel the medicine job and let the medic return. If needed, close the game, set RestoreOnly = true in Scripts/config.lua, then load the base with the mod installed so it can return recorded medics without starting new jobs. Save and close before removal.

Removing the mod while a medic is still borrowed can leave the game's saved assignment at that bench. For a manual installation, remove only the SensibleMedics folder after the medic has returned. The helper includes MinHook and Lua; their licenses are included.

Install through Workshop

Subscribe to this mod and UE4SS Experimental (Palworld). Let Steam finish downloading, enable both in Options > Mod Management, apply settings and fully restart Palworld.

Use one active copy and one UE4SS installation. Do not combine Workshop and manual installations. The internal Lua folder is SensibleMedics.

Manual Nexus edition.

Support

For help, include the mod, game and UE4SS versions, installation method and what happened. Preserve UE4SS.log before relaunching and review it before sharing.
